Homebrew Warforged/Robot Species Details
Made for battle, the Guild Warforged are living weapons. Or, more accurately, living armor. Made of metal, stone and wood, these constructs are infused with mysterious magic to fuel them. With their creator missing, the warforged are truly an enigma; replicable, but not fully understood. Most Warforged struggle with their purpose in life during peace times, and are drawn towards martial pursuits.
Physically, Warforged are large and heavy, typically between 6 and 7 feet tall and broad, and androgynous in their features. Warforged can be unnerving to the more "organic" species, because of their lack of easy to read facial features. To compensate for this, many warforged adopt dramatic speech patterns, gesticulate a lot, or otherwise are very upfront about their emotions.
Guild Warforged Traits
Warforged are strong and durable, but fairly specialized.
Living Construct
Even though you were constructed, you are a living creature. You are immune to disease and resistant to poison damage. You do not need to eat or breathe, but you can ingest food and drink if you wish. Instead of sleeping, you enter an inactive state for 4 hours each day. You do not dream in this state; you are fully aware of your surroundings and notice approaching enemies and other events as normal. Many warforged become interested in, or obsessed with dreams, because they have never experienced them.
Stone and Steel
Due to their construct nature, Warforged have natural armor and weapons. Your unarmored AC is 12+Dexterity, rather than 10. Additionally, a warforged may select one "natural weapon" that is installed in their body. They are proficient with these weapons, but not necessarily all others like them. These options are a forearm blade, buckler, or wrist crossbow.
The forearm blade is a short sword that can be extended and retracted at will, the buckler is a wide plate of armor over one arm that provides +1 to AC as long as you carry no other shield (it does not occupy the hand), and the wrist crossbow is a hand-crossbow installed along the forearm and wrist.
Martial Tradition
Most warforged are created with runes that influence their proficiency, and this magic is only reinforced by the rigorous training they go through in their youth. You gain proficiency with spears, maces, long swords and shields. Additionally, whenever you make an Intelligence (History) check related to military history or tactics, you do so with advantage.
Ability Score Increase
Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Strength score increases by 1.
Age
The warforged are made for battle, and thus culturally do not age in years. While they acknowledge the years they have been active, they consider Age and Experience to be the same thing. Thus, they consider the number of battles you've been in to be more important than the number of years you've been active. A warforged who has participated in 10 or less battles is a mere infant in their eyes, and cannot have any decision left up to them. Between 10 and 50, they are a child in the eyes of other warforged, able to think rationally, but never to be left unsupervised. After 50 battles, they are considered a teenager in our terms, and are gradually given more trust and opportunities to prove themselves. After 75 battles, they are young adults, akin to a person in their 20-30's (most PCs are in this age range).
Alignment
Warforged tend to have strong convictions either way, out of a desire to be independent and form their own opinions on things. They do, however, tend towards Lawfulness because of their military traditions.
Size
Warforged are typically 6 or 7 feet tall exactly, and between 200 and 250 pounds. They are broad shouldered, and have odd proportions, with defined muscles and slim joints.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and Gnomish. Warforged are fluent in common, but Gnomish is technically their first language, as their manufacturers are primarily Gnomes. If a warforged was constructed elsewhere, they may speak a different language, such as Draconic or Goblin.
