Aaedi Traits
Your aaedi character has the following racial traits.Ability Score Increase
One ability score of your choice increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.
Age
Aaedi can live forever as long as they are in sunlight or can see the stars. However, if these conditions aren't met, an aaedi will fizzle out after one week.
Alignment
Aaedi are generally true neutral, however some have been known to lean towards the extremes of the alignment spectrum.
Size
Most aaedi are between 5 and 8 feet tall, and weigh roughly 2,000 pounds.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Searing Glare
As an action, choose a creature you can see within 60 feet that you can see. That creature must succeed on a DC 8 + your Proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier Dexterity saving throw or be set on fire. While on fire, the creature takes 1d6 fire damage at the start of each of it's turns until it uses it's action to put itself out. On a successful save, nothing happens.
Light Body
You shed bright light out to a 20 foot radius, and dim light out to a 40 foot radius. You can reduce the radius down to 5 feet of dim light.
Collapse
Once per long rest, as an action, you can explode - dealing 2d10 fire damage to all creatures and objects within a 15 foot radius. At 5th level, this turns into 2d10 fire damage and 2d10 force damage to all creatures and objects within a 20 foot radius.
Quantum Flux
After taking Radiant or Fire damage from any source, as a reaction, give yourself a number of temporary hit points equal the damage taken after resistances. These temporary hit points last until you take a short rest. You can do this once per short rest.
Star-born
You do not need to breathe, eat, or sleep, and you have resistance to fire and radiant damage.
Languages
You can read, write, and speak Celestial and Common.

Posted Aug 13, 2021Hello! I was just scrolling through the HB races, and stumbled across this little gem, and oh boy is this overpowered! May I suggest lowering the damage of "Collapse" to 2d4 force, becoming 4d4 at 5th level? Otherwise, at level 1, your character could single handedly, in ONE TURN, kill the WHOLE PARTY and three low level enemies.
To put it into context, this power alone is like using two fire damage Eldritch Blasts on ALL CREATURES within 15 feet of you. As ONE ACTION! At level ONE! At level 5, this becomes 4 Eldritch blasts, two dealing fire damage, to all creatures within TWENTY FEET of you. That means you can target up to 40 creatures. With 4d10 damage. As one action. At level 5.
So, let's break this down:
Level 1-4: You act as a level 5 character casting a fire eldritch blast (2d10 damage) on all creatures within 15 feet of you (up to 24 targets) as one action once per long rest. This attack cannot miss (no attack roll or saving throw mentioned). A level 5 Warlock would take up to 24 turns to do this damage without being guaranteed to hit. A warlock of your level could take more than 48 turns to deal that much damage. Oh, and your max damage output is 480 damage in a single action.
Level 5-20: You act as a level 17+ character casting eldritch blast, two beams fire and two normal (4d10 damage), on all creatures in a 20 foot radius of you once per long rest. Still a guaranteed hit, but on up to 40 targets this time. Max damage output is 1600 damage. A level 17-20 warlock would take a minimum of 40 turns to deal this damage. And you can do this at level 5. In one action.
Please fix this. It's beginning to melt my brain.
