Homebrew Child of the Moon Species Details

Though I saw only a strange eyed human, I could feel the Dragon blood running through his veins, He wasn't like me though, were I was closer to my dragon heritage, this one was more human looking, the only noticable indication of what he was, his eyes a dark color with white surrounding reptilian eyes. As the Moon showed, it seemed his power was increasing.

The Children of the Moon are a special breed of Dragonborn, but their origins are somewhat of a mystery. Despite their name they are more closely related to Dragon Men(a race of Evil dragons that can shapeshift into a convincing disguise) though the Child lacks the ability to shapeshift, they take on a form that mixes the two forms close together. But the Children of the Moon are actually aligned to many different causes. just like their Dragonborn brothers they can be on any side.

Moon's Splendor

Typical Children of the Moon resemble Medium sized humans, but they have dragon like features mixed with human traits, Most often those born under a New Moon have Black mixed with whatever dragon birthed them and that of a Shadow Dragon(while Acid based dragons have Black scales, the Child's scales are much darker.) their eyes also follow this rule. However their hair is whatever color that they are born with.

Like Dragonborn they have a original dragon ancestor

Outcasts Unite

While some Dragonborn are seen as the noble creatures they are(minus the evil ones) Children of the Moon are outcasted by both Dragon and Humans for their is a universal legend that the Children are unholy, or cause disasters. While not clans, most of the groups that Children of the Moon work with are made up of many races but also their kind. This may lead though to a Child becoming a Bandit Chief using their power. but like Dragonborn they decide their own fate and will earn trust.

They sympathize with Tieflings who they say are friends even if they've never been around a Tieflng before.

Also the Children of the Moon believe that the Moon shape the lives of more then just them.

Breath Weapon

You can use your action to exhale destructive energy. Your draconic ancestry determines the size, shape, and damage type of the exhalation. When you use your breath weapon, each creature in the area of the exhalation must make a saving throw, the type of which is determined by your draconic ancestry. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level. After you use your breath weapon, you can’t use it again until you complete a short or long rest.
