Homebrew Bronze-Green dragon 1.2 Species Details
These mixed-blood dragons tend to be lawful neutral and could potentially be swayed towards lawful good or evil.
They have an innate connection towards forests and water and will prefer to reside next to both. The best habitat for a Bronze-Green dragon is in a bay surrounded by woodland.
Bronze-Green dragons will use their connection to vegetation to help hide their lair, however, unlike a full green dragon, they will leave most of the forest untouched and how it naturally was.
Bronze-Green dragons are well equipped for underwater travel and will use this ability to search for shipwrecks in hopes of finding easy treasure to add to their horde.
Being a mixed-blood dragon, Bronze-Green dragons are slow to trust anyone and will attempt to hide their mixed heritage if possible. A common way they do this is by shape-changing into a humanoid creature and claiming not to be a dragon at all. While these dragons are prone to hiding as other creatures they do love to travel to settlements surrounding their territory and tell tall tales in hopes of scaring off any lowly trespassers while also planting seeds to lure in experienced adventures in hopes of killing them for their loot. If you ever pointed out to a Bronze-Green dragon that they were telling stories to lure in adventures simply to kill them, they would of course deny it and claim they acted in self-defense to hostile intruders.
While a Bronze-Green dragon will eat any humanoids or beasts within its territory if it gets hungry enough it much prefers aquatic plants and fish.
Bronze-Green dragons are prone to lying and can create very convincing lies with their cunning. Being of mixed-blood Bronze-Green dragons tend to be killed on sight by their other dragons, so they aren't great at performing acts of intimidation on their own kind. And while they could easily imply intimidation tactics on humanoids and such they much rather play the sympathy card. Bronze-Green dragons make sure to observe and take note of any creature they encounter and then measure their usefulness. Useless creatures are food or victims of the Bronze-Green dragon's cruel games. Useful creatures are aided by the Bronze-Green dragon out of the "Kindness" of their hearts (what the creature needs aid with is usually some predicament the Bronze-Green dragon created). The Bronze-Green dragon then "befriends" them and will call upon that creature in the dragon's time of need. If the creature stays useful for long enough the Bronze-Green dragon will, in rare cases, begin to trust the creature and really become its friend over a period of time.
If a territory conflict occurs with another dragon the Bronze-Green dragon will call upon all of the creatures that owe it a favor. If the Bronze-Green dragon has racked up enough followers it will simply watch from a hiding place as its followers kill the other dragon for it. If it doesn't have enough followers it will only attack and defend its territory if it feels certain it will win. If it feels like it will lose the battle it'll send what followers it has as a distraction and grab what treasure it can and abandon its territory.
Amongst a Bronze-Green dragon's horde, its most prized possessions are books of knowledge, in particular spellbooks with spells that can help it hide, deceive, or ward, and really anything else it thinks will aid in its survival.
