Homebrew Arachnea Species Details

Arachnea are a very subtle and rather shy spider-like people. They look like humans with short fur, have 6 arms, and often have fang-like teeth. They are slender, and tend to have darker fur colors, but they can range from a pitch black to a bright yellow. Their hands are fluffy and almost paw-like, and some Arachnea have a slightly smaller pair of eyes either above or below their main pair. They live in solitude mostly, staying in darker areas unless they gain a reason to explore the world. They often form massive houses made of thick, sticky webs that they secrete from their hands.

Life Alone

Arachnea usually don't like having company, as they prefer to stay in the wild and hunt for their own food, using bows with web strings. Arachnea are usually born in the wild, and die in the wild- learning about the world by themselves. They form massive web houses to stay in, often catching birds or deer in the webs for food. Their solitude is only ever broken by another Arachnea when they come together to mate before splitting ways. Arachnea children are usually not cared for by their parents, as they can fend for themselves at a very young age. Most Arachnea wander the wilderness, and lots of them never see civilization. But those who do find delight and joy in the many pleasures that life in society has to offer. Their brighter side shines the most when they are with others and although they're usually awkward or shy, they try their best to fit in.

Old Habits..

Arachnea used to possess a potent venomous bite that eventually went away over many years. They often keep strange habits from their species, such as eating webs. If an Arachnea makes too much webbing and has extra, they have been known to eat the rest, as it's perfectly safe for them to eat. The webbing has little taste and isn't a great food source, but eating the web gets rid of it efficiently. Their web itself is a thick, whit liquid that seeps from their hands that is pulled into a very strong and sticky string. Arachnea fur is covered in a very thin oil that stops it from sticking to them.

Ability Score Improvement

Your Dexterity Score Increases by 2 and your Charisma score increases by 1.

Size

Arachnea are slender and there's a big height difference between Arachnea males and females. Males range from around 4½ to 5 feet tall and average 100 pounds while females stand 6 to 6½ feet tall and usually weigh just under 150 pounds. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium.

Itsy-Bitsy

Due to your slender, fluffy build, you can squeeze through a space as narrow as 1 foot wide. Additionally, squeezing doesn't reduce your movement speed or grant disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws.

Web Walker

You can secrete a sticky, white webbing from your hands that has a variety of uses. You can create up to a 60-foot square of webbing per long rest and cover up to a 10-foot area in webs as an action. These web-filled areas are difficult terrain. Moreover, a creature entering a webbed area for the first time on a turn or starting its turn there must succeed on a Dexterity saving  throw (DC= 8 + proficiency bonus + Dexterity modifier) or become restrained by the webs. A restrained creature can use its action to try to escape, doing so with a successful Strength (Athletics) check. Each 10-foot cube of giant webs has an AC of 10, an amount of hit points equal to twice your level, vulnerability to fire, and immunity to bludgeoning, piercing, and psychic damage. Additionally, you ignore movement restrictions caused by webbing and cannot place webbing in another creature's space.

Your webs can hold up to 1,000 pounds of weight before breaking and your blindsight can sense anything that touches the web, as long as you are also in contact with it.

Arachnid Arms

You have four arms instead of two, one set of arms above the other. You can hold more things with your four arms, such as weapons and shields.

Two-handed weapon takes up two hands, Shields take up one hand, and one-handed weapons take up two hands unless they are Light or Finesse. A Light or Finesse weapon would take up one hand. You must have a free hand to utilize the loading property on some weapons and you cannot have a shield and a Two-handed weapon equipped at the same time. If you attack with a Two-handed weapon, you cannot attack with a different weapon as part of that action- nor do you benefit from multiple shields.

Additionally, if you use Two weapon fighting, you can make two attacks if you are wielding two light weapons .

Spider Senses

Due to your spider-like senses, you can feel the slightest movement. You gain blindsight to a range of 20 feet, as you can sense movement through your sensitive fur. Additionally, you can survive terminal velocity. If fall damage would reduce you to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to drop to 1 hit point instead.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice.
