Homebrew Crystal Core Slime Species Details

While the Crystal Core Slimes body is formed of a slimy gel they creature itself is in actuality the crystalline psionic resonance amplifier. The slime researchers had done their job too well in selecting the candidates for their project. They chose a species of slime native to the Underdark a place where the link to the far realm where psionic power seeps into the material realm is strong. They figured(correctly) that these creatures would be more receptive to the resonance crystals they had constructed to communicate with mindless creatures. What they didn't count on was their stones absorbing the energy stored in these slimes over their decades near the far realm, and awaken becoming fully aware of their existence.

Because of this even if the slime body is completely destroyed if the crystal is in the right conditions the slime will reform, or if introduced into another slime it will wrest control of it and use the body as it's own. Due to this they come in all shapes and sizes and their abilities can vary based on their current form. They have full control over their entire body, they can change their shape down to an exact detail and ever alter their color and texture to mimic things they have observed. They have developed an expert sense of deception and mimicry to hide from those who would wish to use them for their own designs.

They are extreme omnivores and will eat just about anything, with an extreme preference for meat and gemstones. They cannot sleep even by magical means, their bodies do need to rest for 4 hours but in this state they are fully aware and can move but it will interrupt their rest. The introduction of the crystal removes any elemental resistances from their bodies, but they all retain the resistance to piercing and slashing damage. They are also resistant to psionic and force damage.

Crystal Core Slime Traits

Due to technically being the gemstone, they can bend and stretch their bodies in unnatural ways, they are also fierce intellectuals. Racial Attributes: +2 DEX +2INT

Tremor-psi-sense

Can sense moving objects within a 60ft radius, they can also feel the area around them allowing them to move around their environment safely. Combining these things and their psionic powers gives them a "view" and they can even see colors and light. Their vision is actually better than those with normal vision granting them effective truesight.

Damage Resitances

they keep slime's natural resistance to piercing and slashing damage. Their psionic resonance also grants them resistance to psionic and force damage.

Perfect Mimicry

Crystal Core Slimes have honed the ability to fully control their shape and color to mimic creatures and objects around them to a perfect detail. This is due to them being nearly hunted to death, there are very few wild Crystal Core Slimes left.
