Homebrew Adrid Species Details

The Adrid are desert-faring people, often found leagues away from the resources most races need to survive. As such, they have developed customs and abilities that allow them to survive in these often harsh climates. Known for seeking the great secrets of the realm, Adrid are adept at solving riddles and finding bits of information in nearly any situation. The proverbial "needle in a haystack" is hardly a challenge for most Adrid.

Their desire for knowledge over possession often leads the Adrid to become monks, druids, and wizards, giving them a chance to seek out knowledge in a multitude of ways. Paladins, clerics, rogues, and warlocks also offer the kind of learning opportunities the Adrid seek. Often Adrid dedicate their lives to the pursuit of an intriguing mystery, providing motivation to join adventuring parties on their quests.

QUIET AND STUDIOUS
The life of the Adrid is often one of few words and little interaction. Their studies take absolute precedence, and their desire to find the answers they seek often overshadows their decision-making process. As such, many of them take a neutral alignment, seeking the most beneficial solution in the moment.

AGE
The Adrid reach adulthood at the age of 20 and generally live to around 600 years old. They do not consider age a cultural factor beyond a measure of full maturity.

ALIGNMENT
Most Adrid are true-neutral, though some tend towards good. They try to remain objective in times of confrontation, often attempting to weigh the facts before choosing sides in any conflict. Respect for life is key for the Adrid, who will often seek to end most conflicts without bloodshed. However, they are not opposed to violence should it be the most rational outcome for the scenario and generally do not feel remorse when they must take a life.

SIZE
Adrid grow to be between 5'8" and 6'5". Males and females are indistinguishable in height, and females tend to be slightly narrower in the shoulders and waist. Both genders are usually muscular and slender but tend towards a larger frame. Your Astrid's size is medium.

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
The Adrid, as a desert people, tend toward a dark olive complexion. They are often lean, their skin stretched tight over their muscular forms due to a life lived with limited water and no fatty reserves. Their eyes are often green, and their hair black with a blue tinge. Their skin is covered in purple markings that can vary in pattern but are often striped with darkened arms and legs. They have a unique double-pointed ear and broad, bulbous facial features.

Eye makeup is a part of their culture, with men adorning blue, green, or orange shadowing and lines. Women tend towards white and yellow makeup that also includes lip decor. Both genders wear curved lines on the inside corners of the eye that extend along the curvature of the nose just past the nostrils. Hair for both genders is usually cut high and only grown from the top to longer lengths. Though men often sport stubble, beards and other bodily hair aren't usually worn.

Clothing is lightweight and adapted for hot and arid environments. Light cloth clothing and open footwear are most common, although other desert clothing variants are worn when their function is needed. Often Adrid seek to cover as little of the body as possible while still maintaining modesty among other cultures.

SOCIETY
Built upon barren sands, connection to nature and spirit, and a thirst for knowledge, Adria is now among the most adaptable countries in its corner of the world.
Its libraries, schools, and literature are among its current greatest strengths. Unfortunately, Adria lacks a sustainable economy as it relies too heavily on students from other nations to provide income.

Adria is a direct democracy. There are hardly any opposing groups against the current leadership, but fortunately, they're no danger to the public and are largely benevolent.
However, the current greatest threat to the nation is its weak economy, but there are plans to expand their universities to other nations, creating easier access to their scholarly programs.

The people of Adria are adaptable, learning to find resources to live in just about any environment. But while income is lacking, their knowledge helps relieve some of their issues.
Education holds a fair deal of importance in their lives and, if anything, has made them more modest. The people of Adria are extremely traditional as well, and they have many beautiful customs and rituals to honor their history.
