Homebrew Desert Tabaxi Species Details

Agile humanoid cats of the desert

Desert Tabaxi Traits

The agile Tabaxi brought out of the jungle and into the desert have various feline abilities

Ability Score Increase

Your dexterity score increases by 2, your constitution score increases by 2, and your charisma score increases by 1

Cat’s Claws

Because of your claws, you have a climbing speed of 20ft. In addition, your claws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your strength modifier, added to the usual bludgeoning damage of an unarmed strike.

Cat’s Talent

You have proficiency in the Perception and Stealth checks.

Feline Agility

Your agility and reflexes allow you to move with a burst of speed. On your turn in combat, you can double your speed until the end of your turn. Once you use this trait, you cannot use it again until you move 0 feet on one of your turns.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, Tabaxi, and one other language of your choice.

Sandy Paws

Due to generations of Tabaxi living in the desert, your paws have adapted to travel quickly over sandy terrain. You lose no movement speed on sandy, dusty, gravely, or otherwise unstable ground.

Age

Tabaxi have a similar lifespan to humans, typically a century or less.

Heat resistance

Due to adaptation of their large ears, Desert Tabaxi are well suited for extreme heat. You have a resistance to heatwaves and don’t dehydrate as quickly as other species in dry and/or hot climates.

Alignment

Tabaxi tend toward chaotic alignments, as they let impulse and dance guide their decisions. They are rarely evil, and most are driven by curiosity rather than greed or other impulses.
