Homebrew Aasmire Species Details

Aasmire, also known as lesser angels, are the product of divine punishment. When an angel commits a crime that is severe, but not so severe as to warrant their falling from grace, their god might deign to convert them to an aasmire. Most of the angel’s divine powers are removed, and they are banished to the Material Plane with no memories of their previous life. They’re granted a life without knowledge of what they have lost; a great gift compared to the alternative of falling from grace, exiled from their kin.

Perfect Visage

While clearly standing apart from full angels, lesser angels are still too perfect in appearance to pass as mortal. No matter which humanoid race they take their appearance after, they are unsettlingly beautiful. With their smooth, lustrous skin, and slim, muscular forms, even if their large feathered wings are concealed, aasmire are bound to draw the attention of normal mortals when they enter a room. Meeting the gaze of an aasmire often causes one’s hair to stand on end, though mortals often have trouble pinning down the reason for this.

They can have almost any appearance. While the shape of one’s body is modeled on a humanoid race, their skin, eye, and hair coloration does not have to be. As such, aasmire that appear human other than their gold skin and startling white hair and eyes, for example, may have trouble blending in with human society.

Before their memories and powers are revoked, angels are given the ability to choose how they will appear as a mortal. Most choose to look as unassuming as possible, hoping to fit in to society as best they can in their next life.

Aasmire possess a pair of feathered wings, which may be white, black, or brown. These wings can be concealed when not in use.

Racial Traits

Age

Before being cast down, lesser angels are allowed to choose the age at which they will begin their mortal life. Most lesser angels choose to begin their new life at around 20 years of age. Lesser angels typically live to be around 200 years old— a lifespan that is longer than that of most mortals, but which pales in comparison to their former immortality.

Alignment

Though lesser angels have no memories of their old lives, they still tend to fall into their old habits of goodness. Most are neutral good.
