Homebrew Ciphin Species Details
Ciphin are well known for the cuteness as well as their tendencies to get into mischief. Ciphin are typically driven by their curiosity and desires to fulfill their role in their tribes, from whom they receive a permanent mark on the hair on their foreheads, marking them as part of the tribe.
While their intentions are usually good, it's their natural dexterity and diminutive size sees many of the "Unmarked" wind up in the wrong crowds, thus adding to the rumor that Unmarked Ciphin are that way because they are criminals. Most Unmarked are as such because they didn't follow the beliefs of their tribe and were looking for a new tribe. With the addition of Kalaran society joining their once peaceful lands, many Unmarked find a different path with the new peoples of Paenari.
Primitive Paenari didn't have a concept of deities until Kalarans showed up, believing only in the goals of the tribe. Now some tribes follow Kalaran deities, repenting for the time they considered themselves blasphemous.
Making Their Own Path
Physically the Ciphin are smaller than most races, but that doesn't deter their curiosity from attempting to find out if they can do everything the other races can do! With red-orange fur covering most of their backs and dark brown fur on their fronts, the white markings on their face and head are the simplest way to tell them apart, as their markings are as unique as a fingerprint.
Their small size and cute faces can be deceiving. The Ciphin have long retractable claws that make them exquisite climbers and can also be used as a weapon in a pinch.
Sense of Community
Ciphin born in traditional tribes often have a great sense of pride in the helpful community they have built that supports every member and many will attempt to instill those beliefs and traditions into the outside world. Most Ciphin tribes have a hard time understanding the common currencies, as their trade consisted only of bartering goods.
Often times vendors will use their naivety in attempts to swindle them out of their money, though they often don't realize they've been swindled and can often lead Ciphin tribes to not trust outsiders.
