Homebrew Aardmensen Species Details
Hardy pushed down on the shovel, and it hit something hard. He looked down into the hole and then up, up through the giant hole they had dug, all of the workers. He shoveled out holes to either side of the one he had just made, and confirmed it. Bedrock. He told some of the other workers next to him to go and tell the boss, then he looked down at the hole again. There was a crack running through the rock beneath his feet. He hit it with his shovel, and it widened a little. He hit it again, and it widened more. Finally, he jumped on it, and he fell into a room where a dwarf was speaking to another humanoid creature, one with small, almost blind eyes, and two big clawed paws instead of hands.
Aardmensen, or "Earth people" are a race of the western tip of the Great Plains of Ursia. They build homes in the grasslands by digging with their claws and unhinge-able jaws, and they protect these homes by caving in the entrances with dirt they spray out of their butts. They also know many earth related spells that they use to ward off intruders.
Long forgotten
The Aardmensen were once a well known and prosperous race, their master diggers prized for building foundations and underground tunnels, for the elves, for the dwarves, and for the other races in Ursia. But when the humans came and colonized the land, the aardmensen fled into the grasslands, and many of their greatest works became dungeons forevermore. They built cities underground, thriving metropolitans with shops and houses. The only race the Aardmensen came in contact with were the hill dwarves to the south, who gave them information on the world outside in turn for tunnels dug for them and even some eager adventurers that, little known to the humans and even most of the other races in Ursia, were big parts of some of the most well known campaigns.

Earth Spells
As an Aardmensen, you have a good connection to the earth that allows you to cast spells related to it. You can cast mold earth, earth tremor, and erupting earth.
tunnel
You can tunnel, giving you a burrowing speed of 10 ft. When you tunnel, you can choose to tunnel with your mouth, in which case it counts as your food consumption for the day, and you must shoot dirt out of your butt within 1d4 hours afterward.
