When determining your ability scores, you increase one of those scores by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or you increase three different scores by 1. You follow this rule regardless of the method you use to determine the scores, such as rolling or point buy.

Your class’s “Quick Build” section offers suggestions on which scores to increase. You’re free to follow those suggestions or to ignore them. Whichever scores you decide to increase, none of the scores can be raised above 20.

The Xixo tend towards a wanderlust and often work as merchants or traders. They tend to learn languages of whatever group they deal with most often. Your character can speak, read, and write Common and Primordial, as well as one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character. The Player’s Handbook offers a list of widespread languages to choose from. The DM is free to add or remove languages from that list for a particular campaign.

Though individual Xixo live much shorter lives than other Kin, typically living until their mid 50s, they have perfect memories, able to recall everything in their lives with absolute clarity. A common understanding among the Xixo is that other Kin are terribly cursed - living twice as long as the Xixo, but eventually forgetting a large part of their lives. They have advantage on all History checks that relate to the Xixo's life.

Though they can have weak eyesight, they are highly sensitive to smell and chemical signals and Xixo can communicate simple emotions or moods to each other through pheromonal markers, leading to the stereotype that they can read each other’s minds.

The insect/crustacean-like Xixo are a shallow water dwelling people who are present throughout the world, including seasonally frozen areas. Due to this, their hard exoskeleton has a natural resistance to Cold.

Xixo are excellent swimmers and can hold their breath for long periods of time (up to an hour). They can swim and walk as soon as they are born from their egg nurseries.
