Homebrew Dea Species Details

Years ago, the Dea constantly clashed with the Demons. Despite often battling, most goddesses acted gentle towards humans and other races and considered killing demons as a way to save them. However, the two races were largely evenly matched and thus a tentative balance was created. At some point in time, they broke a treaty with the Demons, and even slaughtered many women and children they were holding as prisoners of war.

According Myths, a majority of the Dea apparently inhabit places called "Sky Palaces", where they lay dormant, as they made use of the gate in a altar to bring the remainder of the Dea through gate to "protect" the mortals.

Appearance

Members of the Dea appear entirely human other than one pair, or more, of angel-like wings. Some Goddesses has been shown to have more divergent features like multiple heads, or be as tall as a Giant.

Higher ranking Dea are generally distinguished by their multiple pairs of wings. The number of wings and its size are generally indicators of a Dea's power.

Whenever some Deas inhabits a physical vessel or whenever they use their magical powers, their eyes become orange and manifest a triskelion symbol.

Powers and Abilities

The Dea are an extremely powerful race able to stand on equal ground with the Demons, although it required the cooperation of the fey, giants and humans to fight them. Despite their power, they needed physical forms to actually affect the world by their actions. They aren't actual Gods like the God that created them, despite their massive power. Members of the Dea share several common abilities:

  • Ark An archetypal magic technique of the Dea that creates light particles, often involving the target in a dazzling sphere of light that breaks apart their body. It mostly counteracts darkness by disintegrating, though it also can cause physical damage. It does 2d6 radiant damage.
  • Resurrection After a Dea's physical body dies they can wait three days and three nights for a new physical body. When you get back your body until a long rest you have to roll all of your attacks and checks with disadvantage.
  • Healing: This is the natural ability that all Dea have allowing them to heal any living creature, even Demons if controlled enough, healing any injuries and diseases giving the target 1d8 hit points.
  • Flight: Given the nature of their wings, this allows the Dea to fly equal to their walking speed.
  • Longevity: It is suggested that the Dea have long lifespans, as each of them have lived for several thousands of years, longer than any mortal race.
