Homebrew Demigod Species Details

 

After a god and a mortal (mostly humans) have a child together they produce a Demigod. These Demigods also sometimes known as half-bloods have inherited enhanced abilities over their mortal counterparts including, knowledge of the celestial language, hardened bodies, and control over their godly parent's domain. Demigods while very strong do have a couple of hard downsides they have a scent that any smart enough monster can sense or find, also they have trouble fitting with other species, most Demigods also have some sort disorder of some sort.

While most Demigods are created much like regular humans, gods can choose how long children can take to gestate and, if some gods prefer they can make their children through magic (like virgin goddesses). In this way, Athena remains a virgin goddess and it reflects how she herself was born, with magic sprouting from the head of Zeus. Most gods just go through regular childbirth as it is easier. Few demigods have full-blooded siblings (with the exception of twins), as their godly parent will usually leave their mortal consorts not long after a child is born, or sometimes even before that.

When a Demigod reaches their mid-teens, their powers start to manifest. This is when a Demigods scent comes out. The scent is another thing that breaks social relations for Demigods with other species because it puts people 'close' to them in danger.

Demigod Traits

Demigods have a slew of abilities, both natural and supernatural to take on the challenges given to them by the gods.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Celestial. You speak the language of both your parents Common and the language of the gods Celestial. Common you were taught as anyone else, but Celestial has been hardwired into your brain.

Age

Demigods if they can survive live longer then full blood Humans by usually living to just over a century. They mature at the standard for human's though typically you will have more demigods at a younger age out adventuring than humans. You can find Demigods adventuring in the world from the ages 15-20 years old. Demigods will die of old age at around 150 years old.

Alignment

Demigods lean towards no alignment as a race. The best and worse can be found among them as among any race. It will sometimes depend on their immortal parent, however.

Size

Demigods vary widely in height and build, from barely 5 feet to well over 6 feet tall. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium.

Adventure Running

As a Demigod, you move faster than the average human. You were born this way to help them both run towards and away from danger.

Scent of Demigod

Demigods have a smell that any creature that has an intelligence of 6+ and a strong enough scent of smell (up to DM on what that really reams but one rule is that Humans cannot smell it) can pick up. The smell lasts for an hour before passing.

Sturdy Body (CON Increase )

Because of Demigods being born for dangerous activity, their Godly Parents parents made them sturdier than your average human.

Natural Fitness (DEX and STR Increase)

Even though not all demigods take advantage of it, because of the godly parentage they are born with a more fit body than anyone else.
