Homebrew Dragon Halfling Species Details

[Alpha Version. Any balancing ideas, please leave a message.]

[Mainly used for my custom group. Any can use this if they're DM approves.]

It has been told countless times child, the tales of their power, their intellect and of the magic that was born within them. Yet not all these tales are true, some exaggerated to make for more thrilling stories to excite the young hearts of children, others fairy tales told by the great storytellers of our time and times past. Yet no matter the story, no matter the exaggeration, no matter the fairy tale, one thing always remains told true, they are Dragons by name and dangerous by nature. Creatures taller than any human upon their birth, and growing to tower over the tallest castle at adulthood, covered in scales tougher than any armor, with claws longer and sharper than blades, fangs longer than your head, wings stretching as far as the nights sky and eyes so keen and sharp they'll spot even the smallest of creatures from miles away. It would do us no good to forget the storms of fire, ice and lightning raining from their mouths, oh they are fierce beasts and yet they are the things of wonder.

Many dream of meeting one, for most however it is their worst nightmare, for they are reminders of the calamity that fell this world into destruction and chaos. They are the ones that gifted us with their wisdom, granted us the ability to wield the powers of magic, they were once our protectors, our guides towards knowledge. For all they gave to us they felt we owed them more, obedience, loyalty and most of all we were their cattle. Of course those of the past did not agree with this, they rebelled, they fought and destruction was all that greeted them. For they were humans and the others they fought against, well, son, they were Dragons.

And Dragons cannot be killed.

A Story from a caring father, Odarion Clove.

Dragon Halfling Traits

Shared Traits Among all Dragon Halflings

Ability Score Increase

+2 to Strength and Constitution Scores

Age

Dragons reach maturity at around the age of 100, they however are not bound by a limited lifespan and can live for as long as they are not slain. The oldest recorded dragon in history was said to be over 4000 years old.

Alignment

Dragons tend to the extremes of alignment based on their subtype. You are not typical of your race and may choose any alignment.

Dragon DarkSight

You have Darkvision to a range of 120ft

Draconic Strength

Your strength stat is not as limited as it is to humans, your strength can be increased to a maximum equal to your dragon ancestry. (An Example being Black Dragon having a maximum of 27 strength)

Your constitution stat is also not as limited as it is to humans, much like your strength it can be increased to a maximum equal to your dragon ancestry. (An example being Black Dragons having a maximum of 25 Constitution)

However you cannot increase them over 20 until you reach lvl 10, and cannot increase them over 22 until lvl 15.

Breath Weapon

You possess a breath weapon that corresponds to your draconic ancestor. When using your breath weapon, creatures in your breath must make a Dexterity or Constitution (depending on ancestry) saving throw against a DC that is equal to 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. If they succeed, they take half damage, if they fail, they take full damage. Your breath weapon does 2d6 damage of the same type as your resistance damage type. This increase to 3d6 at level 6, 4d6 at level 11, 5d6 at level 16. The damage type, saving throw, area, and range correspond to draconic ancestor type (see Dragonic Ancestry table). You cannot use this again until you complete a short or long rest.
