Homebrew Demon Species Details

"Stand back Demon!" Garland drew his sword and golden light shone from the blade as he channelled his holy energy into it, steeling himself to fight the infernal abomination. Matthias drew his longsword alongside Garland, his hands quivering on the hilt as he didn't have even a tenth of Garlands conviction. Matthias looked as if he would throw up as he stood, shaking his boots. His fear permeating the air around Garland. "Get behind me Matthias, this demon will not pass." Matthias moved to Garland's rear and cowered behind him. Garland stood, proud and strong as the demon calmly approached them. Garland spoke a chant of holy words to himself, the words echoing throughout the chamber, and a ring of golden light sprang into existence around the two men, illuminating their dank dark surroundings far more than any torch ever could, providing a small amount of comfort to the quivering Matthias. The demon stood before them, its lithe and sinewy form barely visible beneath the wreath of smoke that engulfed his imposing visage. It stood just outside the ring of golden light, gazing down at the men who stood beneath him. Garlanded never wavered, he stood strong and firm in the face of fear. The same could not be said of Matthias. Defiant in the face of evil, Garland shouted "You will not pass here, not this day! Your darkness cannot survive the light of God." As the last words left Garland's lips, the force of his conviction sent a holy wind coursing through the chamber towards the demon. The demon spoke, his voice cutting like razor blades across Garland's skin. "Perhaps, but you forget one thing old man." Unbowed Garland straightened his back, his sword at the ready.  "And what would that be, demon?" He spat back at the creature, venom in his words. Matthias who shook uncontrollably behind him, his eyes closed in fear. A wicked smile curled across the demons face, looking more like a burning scar on his face than anything else. "I have full control." As the words left the demons mouth, a sharp pain burst through Garland's back and ripped out through his chest. Matthias' sword had pierced clean through Garland. Garland looked down to see his blood coating the point of the sword that was now sticking out of his chest red glistening in the holy light that surrounded them, Garland wasn't sure if it was shock or the sword that had pushed the last breath from his lungs. Matthias withdrew the sword and Garland fell to his knees, the golden light that surrounded the two men quickly vanishing as the life left Garland's eyes. Tears ran from Matthias face. Tears for Garland, and tears for himself for the horror that now awaited him.

Infernal Origin

Jackiel is a demon, and as such as a from in line with this. Standing at around 7 foot tall, his skin is charred black with what looks like burning coals contained beneath, barely visible through the cracks in his skin. Two curves horns sprout from atop his head curling down beside his ears. There are two small fire incisions in the place where his nose should be, and his mouth looks as if it was cut onto an otherwise mouthless face. His eyes are two fiery pits, set deep within his skull. A haze of smoke surrounds him at all times, leaving the actual skin and form of the demon beneath difficult to see. Jackiel has no real "true form" instead appearing in the fashion above as the demon has decided this represents him best.

An Unknowable Enigma

Demons exist outside of the material plane, they are not subject to the same notions of time and space that mortals are and their minds are enigmatic as a result. It is extremely rare for a demon of Jackiels power to even be able to exist in the material plane, so there is no knowledge of its social behaviours. What is known of Jackiel is contradictory leading to his actions being entirely unpredictable. No one knows why he walks the earth, what his motivations are or what he might be planning. Many believe he is simply an agent of chaos and as such needs no reason to do anything, he does it simply because he can.

OUTRIGHT FEAR

People are downright terrified of Jackiel. Even those that have the conviction to look upon him, don't feel fear because of how he looks, but what he might do or what he represents. Jackiel has used this to his advantage during his time as a prince of hell, but now that he walks the mortal world he must learn to adapt and overcome his nature if he wishes to blend in and survive. Jackiel has an innate sense of charm and is unparalleled when it comes to deception. But when all his charm and guile fail him, he will resort to what he knows best, fear.
