Homebrew Changlinoid Species Details

Grown in vats as the result of a failed experiment by Bio Chrom Inc, Changlinoids are highly adaptable killing machines result from gene splicing with ability to absorb and mimic absorbed DNA. Following the collapse of N2 Lab now buried in the dense forests of the Second Layer, the Changlinoids have since expanded out into the wild throughout the Rift and are an ever-present scurge on experienced adventurers, able to integrate into any setting making the perfect undercover killer. It is impossibly rare for a Changlinoid to regain a sense of self, but on occasion they are known to gain one through assimilation of a consumed victim in which depending on their stance they may integrate into society or lurk in the shadows, using the previous life of their victim as a rouse to manipulate and eventually kill more prey... and for some, they become their own unique individuals as they age, their mind lurching down a different path as they grow older.

Changlinoid Traits

Your scientifically manufactured body can adapt using a variety of traits you share with other spliced monstrosities.

Ability Score Increase.

Your Charisma score increases by 2, and your Dexterity score increases by 1.

Age.

Changlinoid's maximum lifespan still remains relatively unknow, though most Changlinoids are known to be anywhere between two to fifty years old.

Alignment.

Changlinoid tend toward Neutral Evil due to their violent and hyper-aggressive nature, though some who have developed a higher degree of intelligence through the consumption of intellectual prey can lean towards almost any alignment, sometimes influenced by the individual of whom they consumed.

Size

Changlinoids are taller on average than humans and relatively slender in their base form. Your size is Medium.

Darkvision.

You have a cat's keen senses, especially in the dark. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Agile Burst

Your aberrant granular body allow you to move with a burst of speed. When you move on your tum in combat, you can double your speed until the end of the tum. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you move 0 feet on one of your turns.

Aberrant Savagery

Because of your claws, you have a climbing speed of 20 feet. In addition, your claws and extendable jaw are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with your claws, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier in slash and if you hit with your extendable jaw you can attempt to grapple as a free-action while dealing 1d4+ your Strength modifier in piercing, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Shapeshifting

As an action, you can change your appearance, voice, texture, scent, and flavour. You determine the specifics of the changes based on previously absorbed information from past victims, things you've eaten/smelled, voices you've heard, and things you've touched etc. You are unable to customise the humanoid appearance you turn and it must be based on someone you've seen before. You can make yourself appear as a member of another race, though none of your game statistics change. You can't duplicate the appearance of a person you've never seen, and you must adopt a form that is either the same size of you or smaller. The appearance of your clothing can be changed by the trait but not the appearance of your equipment.
You stay in the new form until you use an action to revert to your true form or until you die.

You can also assume the form of incomplex objects, the maximum complexity being that of a Bow, Chest, Backpack or Chain, similarly to before you must've seen this object before, the object must be equal to or smaller than your size, and your equipment won't change but you can hide them inside yourself if you turn yourself into a container. Additionally, you can't perform any action when you're an object other than hopping 5ft/rolling 10ft per turn, turning back into a humanoid or any other actions that you may be able to do like open and close or lock and unlock yourself. Lastly if you're an edible object and get eaten you will crippled and/or die instantly unless you can be swallowed whole, you can turn into flamable objects but the same rule applies, you can turn into weapons (other than guns or crossbows or anything of equal complexity) and will deal the same amount of damage as a base version of said weapon would, (e.g. 2d6 Greatsword, 1d4 Dagger) and you cannot turn into liquids or gases, the object must be solid.

*additionally, no textures or scents can be harmful, they can be pungent or gross though. You can turn into other means of damaging things such as spikes or anvils to the DMs discretion.

Bellow is listed how to gain certain ways of mimicing a target
