Homebrew Brumal Species Details
The Brumals or the “Rime Folk” are the nomadic peoples of the Icewind Dale. They’ve built a strong niche on the Dale by making fishing outposts and hunting for blubbered creatures including seals, and walruses for sustenance and to maintain their cultures. While most have carved out lives for themselves in the Ten Towns of Icewind Dale, they still retain their nomadic roots and traditions. They have a deep reverence to the spirits of the land including paying homage to one called The Frostmaiden. They are often 6 to 7 feet tall weighing at around 300 lbs their ursine features also are quite unique. Most have short white fur, but some have various shades of ivory or grey. Their eyes are various shades of blue or grey. What makes a Brumal an adventurer is a desire to explore the greater expanse of the Icewind Dale as part of a rite of passage. While so far none have decided to venture beyond the Dragon’s Teeth, there is nothing stopping a truly adventurous Brumal from making such a journey to Lindow. In the old times, Brumal chieftains and shamans were Druids especially tied to the Icewind Dale. They also are excellent rangers with their tracking abilities, especially in the frozen tundra. They are also mighty warriors with their Barbarians often entering into an unending frenzy, and able to quickly close the distance to their quarry with their sharp fangs.
