Tlincalli Traits
Your Tlincalli character has many inherent traits due to its more insectoid body.Ability Score Increase:
Your Constitution and Strength scores increase by 2 but your Charisma score decreases by 1.
Age:
Their eggs hatch after 3-4 weeks and they're capable enough to keep up with the tribe at 1 month of age, reaching full maturity at 2 years old. Those that aren't killed by the many dangers inherent to a life of wandering near inhospitable lands live to be around 40.
Alignment:
Tlincalli because of their unfortunate circumstances cannot afford the pleasantries of courtesy or even mercy. In the desert food and drink are scarce enough to warrant bloodshed. Tlincalli tribes differ greatly from those of Orcs which raid and pillage because they enjoy destruction, or Goblins which mark anyone more human-like than a Bugbear as a threat. Tlincalli are realists stuck in one of the most unforgiving parts of an already cruel world. One adventurer allowed to escape could mean starvation for a whole clutch of newborns.
Furthermore, the tribes each have a code which is followed, while the tenants of this code vary from one to the next certain aspects are near universal. Tlincalli children must be protected and nurtured, but never coddled. Strength, endurance and respectable heirs seem to be valued greatly in choosing the chieftain. Weapons belong to the collective, if there aren't enough the more dexterous of them may coordinate attacks together although this is very rare. They even have a liberal form of dueling, in which killing the opponent results in grave punishments.
Size:
They usually stand at 5-6 feet tall, up to 8 feet long from the head to the base of the tail and have a 5-7 foot tail. Because of their natural chitin armor, which is shed every few years, they can weigh anywhere from 200 pounds during a full molt, to over 1,000 pounds after the armor has reached it's fullest and having been supplied with ample food, when undisturbed however they appear to stay under 800 pounds due to the lack of food available.
Speed:
fghjk
Darkvision:
Tlincalli possess darkvision out to 60ft, seeing dim light as if it were bright light and non-magical darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Natural Armor:
Tlincalli possess thick and durable chitinous plates, giving them a Natural Armor equal to 12+Con modifier. Any armor worn must be made specifically for Tlincalli to accommodate the lower body and tail. These armors may cost substantially more than the default versions.
Natural weapon:
This Stinger is a potent natural weapon and can be used to deliver the Tlincalli's signature paralytic poison. This stinger itself is a natural melee weapon with which the Tlincalli is proficient, the stinger does 1d6 piercing damage + your Strength modifier on a successful hit.
Tlincalli Venom:
The target must pass a Constitution saving throw with a DC equal to 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. The target takes 2d4 poison damage on a failed save or half as much on a successful one. Failing the save by 5 or more also leaves the target paralyzed for a number of turns equal to the Tlincalli's level. The target may repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its subsequent turns and end the effect on a successful save. The Tlincalli has 3 uses of this ability, regaining 1 use per short rest and all 3 uses per long rest.
The damage die increases to 3d4 at level 5, 4d4 at level 10, and 5d4 at level 15.
Languages:
The Tlincalli's chitinous mouth makes it difficult for them to speak common or any other non-insectoid language clearly, but some have mastered basic communication.
