Homebrew Bunny Vampire Species Details

 This girl that I've found is not like any other child I've interacted with. Her parents dead, she was desperate so I gave her the option for me to turn her, so I granted her wish. I took her in as my own, and she naturally developed the genes of a regular vampire. However, her powers are... how should I say... different. Instead of translucent wings and pointed ears, her transformation consisted of a fluffy fur and a twitching tail. A rabbit... how interesting. I will look more into this in the future, this intrigues me.

 

A rare trait in the vampire species, some vampires have mutations in their genes that change their transformations from a flying bat to a sneaky rabbit. However, it is specifically noted that this trait is only contained in those who have been turned, and they do not become undead.

Vampiric Appearance

Although they have a different transformation, they retain the physical traits of many vampires. Many have light or pale skin and they have sharp fangs as all vampires do. Most have the special trait of having the ability to change their pupil color with their emotions. Black for angry, red for bloodthirsty, blue for happy, brown for neutral, and many others.

Increased Lifespan

When they are turned, bunny vampires start aging like a vampire, taking hundreds of human years to mature to later stages of maturity. Unlike regular vampires, these variants are not thought to be immortal. Many scientific experiments and tests have found that they do not have the same lifeforce in their blood like vampires. It is definitely exceedingly more durable than that of many creatures, being very close to that of straight vampiric blood, but there are some imperfections that prevent the lifeforce from achieving age-dependent immortality.

Blood Lust

Just like regular vampires, these variants have the disposition to desire blood, no matter how controlled that tendency may be. This is natural, as, just like regular vampires, bunny vampires do not need to eat or drink and do not obtain sustenance from eating such things. They only obtain the nutrition they need from blood and actually become weaker when they haven't drunk any blood anywhere in the span of one to two weeks.

Fluffy Transformation

As with all vampires and their variants, bunny vampires have the ability to turn into... well... bunnies. These transformations take the form of whatever rabbit form they would like to take. These transformations can be done at will, both into and out of. However, if the space they occupy in bunny form does not fit their original form, they are not able to revert. These bunny forms are killer bunnies, as they have sharp predatory fangs. Their paws have claws that are sharper than those of a regular rabbit, and their legs are stronger and more flexible. In bunny form, they have a stronger sense of the blood of other creatures, smelling and being able to track the blood of all creatures in a 60ft radius. They also gain a dark vision of 30ft (shades of blood red),  and their hearing becomes near impeccable, their ears being able to pick up even the tiniest of sounds in a 45ft radius.

Runs in the Blood

Vampire bunnies have lesser versions of almost all of the strengths and weaknesses of regular vampires. Their boons include a lesser regeneration, multi-bite attack, resistance to necrotic damage, spider climb, and some additional variant-specific traits. Their banes include forbiddance against the residences of non-friendly creatures, harmful effects from running water, and vulnerability to radiant damage and sunlight.

Spider Climb

You can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

Relentless Life

Once per long rest, when the bunny vampire is knocked to 0 hitpoints it can choose to use a reaction to regain 5 hit points and not be knocked unconscious.

Multiattack (Bunny Form Only)

The vampire, in its bunny form, makes two attacks, only one of which can be a bite attack.

Vampiric Bloodlust

The vampire bunny is able to tap into its vampiric bloodlust, being able to bite and claw at its targets.

Bunnies in Arms

Under specific conditions, the vampire bunny can summon the like souls of other killer bunnies in the area to fight at their side. If it is nighttime (DM's discretion), and the vampire bunny is below half health, and the vampire bunny's location is fairly accessible, the vampire bunny, for an action, can let out a high pitched call that only rabbits within a 120ft radius around the vampire bunny can hear. These rabbits become killer rabbits if they aren't already, and begin to make their way to the bunny vampire's position. 3d4 bunnies will arrive at the vampire's position in 1d4 rounds and will fight at the vampire's side. They are friendly towards the vampire and its companions and will follow its requests to the best of their ability.

Vampiric Weaknesses

The bunny vampire's power comes at a cost, just like its non-variant counterparts. These banes include the following: Lesser Forbiddance. The vampire can't enter the residence of a non-friendly creature without an invitation from the creature. Weakened by Running Water. The vampire has disadvantage on ability checks, saving throws, and attack rolls while in running water. Sunlight Hypersensitivity. The vampire takes 10 radiant damage when it starts its turn in scorching sunlight, and while in scorching sunlight it has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks. While in early morning daylight, it has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks. Bloodthirst. The vampire bunny must drink at least one drop of blood in the span of a week. If it does not do so after a week, it gains 2 points of exhaustion and disadvantage on all rolls, and after 2 weeks, it has the previous detriments with the additional effect that it will try and suck the blood of any creature that it can see including both friendly, neutral, and hostile creatures.

Ability Score Increase

Your dexterity score increases by 2 and your constitution score increases by 1.

Age

Bunny vampires start aging like vampires the moment they are turned. They remain juveniles for about 50 years, they remain in their teens for another 50 years, adulthood lasts for around 400, and their elder years can last anywhere from 250-300 years.

Alignment

 Bunny vampires tend towards more chaotic alignments, unlike their non-variant counterparts who tend towards lawful alignments, perhaps because of the killer instinct nature of their killer bunny genes.  

Size

Bunny vampires tend to be on the smaller side, most likely because of their bunny genes. Regardless of how short you are, your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 35 feet.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice. Bunny vampires are always turned, so they were humans before being turned and remember any language that they learned pre-bite. 

Bunny Form

This transformation is at will, lasts as long as the user wishes, and cannot be reverted if the space the bunny vampire occupies at the time is not large enough to fit the vampire's original form. With this form, the bunny vampire gains a lot of traits that make it a predatory, bloodthirsty killer.
