Homebrew Banuk Species Details

The Banuk are a human tribe in Horizon Zero Dawn. The Banuk are a nomadic people, native to the mountains north of the Sacred Lands. Made up of fearless hunters and mysterious shamans, they are constantly trying to prove their worth against increasingly stacked odds, and favor this over engaging with other tribes.

 

Banuk Traits

It’s hard to make generalizations about Banuk, but your banuk character has these traits.

Banuk Resistance

You have resistance to cold damage and are able to resist temperatures of up to -40C without suffering any disadvantages. You also do not experience a movement decrease while moving through thick snow.

Tinkering Prowess

You are able to create small forms of machinery out of parts you've scavenged, including the Stormslinger and Icerail. If you're able to find one, you can use a Launch Rail from the great old ones to improve spears.

You have proficiency with Tinker's and Smith's Tools.

Blessing of the Blue Glow

All overriden machines have doubled HP and do an extra damage dice on melee attacks.

Fearless Warrior

You are immune to being frightened and any intimidation checks made against you will sound a little weak to you.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Dexterity increases by 1.

Age

Humans reach adulthood in their late teens and live less than a century.

Alignment

Humans tend toward no particular alignment. The best and the worst are found among them.

Size

Humans vary widely in height and build, from barely 5 feet to well over 6 feet tall. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet. You have a climbing speed equal to your walking speed.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice. Humans typically learn the languages of other peoples they deal with, including obscure dialects. They are fond of sprinkling their speech with words borrowed from other tongues: Orc curses, Elvish musical expressions, Dwarvish military phrases, and so on.
