Homebrew Anzuie Species Details

Description
The Anzuie are a small bird-like race that live on high mountains close to the sky. As a nomad race they use the winds to travel from mountain to mountain. They are a quick and clever people with richly bright colored feathers growing on their bodies. They have feathers growing from their head; arms and body are with a long tail feather growing from the tailbone. Their feet are as birds with hardened skin and razor sharp talons

Lore
If you ask an Anzuie where they came from they would not know what to answer because their ancient history has been lost to the winds. But the Anzuie have an unnatural affinity to the sky and winds sensing the slightest changes of the direction of the wind and temperature changes in the air around them often warning them of dangerous storms or catastrophes long before they happen.

Since long ago it was common to have an Anzuie on your Sky barge to help you navigate through the sky without having to fear the wrath of the weathers. The Anzuie are hunters who often make use of bones to create totems and weapons such as boomerangs and daggers, their favorite type of weapons.

Religion

Aava – The sky Mother or the Wind Weaver. – Mother god of death, rebirth, the sky, light, dark, stars, navigation and the winds. To worship Aava is to live under the sky the closer you are the sky the closer you are to Aava the sky mother. Burials are done as a ceremony to the Wind mother. We give our dead to the sky, from the sky we were born, to the sky we shall return. A bone is taken from the body and given to the family as a most sacred token that must always be looked after and kept safe.

You must greet the sun every morning as the sun is the greeting and embrace of our Mother Aava. The night comes as our mother leaves and so must we.

So’l
– Sister Sun. Daughter of Aava and goddess of hunting, crafting, growth, travel, life and the sun.

Each morning the Anzuie wake up before the sun rise to say farewell to Mai and greet Sol from the highest point possible. Wearing gold during a hunt gives you the power, swiftness and accuracy to find your enemies hearth. Anzuie don’t just wear gold during hunts but also during ceremonies such as marriage, initiations and other celebrations. Hanging gold and shiny things out in trees or on the ground in patterns of the sun will grant you the attention of Sol and her blessing.

“The word Hunt for the Anzuie describes both hunting, fighting and war, and thief’s who find them self’s stealing gold from tributes to Sol will find themselves being the hunted”

Ma’i
– Sister Moon. Daughter of Aava and goddess of protection, healing, knowledge, rest, war and the moon.

Each sunset the Anzuie say farewell to Sol and celebrates Mai with a feast as a sign of respect and for a calm night. Each Anzuie home is marked by ornaments of silver to bless their homes with the protection, good health and a calm sleep. During the night the Anzuie high priests also called wind speakers will tend to the wounded and work hard to find new ways to benefit their tribe. it is also during night times that the Anzuie are the most dangerous their villages become as impenetrable as fortresses, it is also good to note that it is during the nights that the Anzuie go to war.

“Some might find the Anzuie’s ways strange and narrow minded, only taking care of their wounded during the time of night, but it is only at this hour that the healers are awake preparing medicine, crafting and preparing for the next day. Some wind speakers are known to not need sleep for months”
