Homebrew Dark Elf / Human Hybrid Species Details
The sunlight danced of the tip of the blade of the warrior standing proudly before the stands, a slender arm outstretched, the other hand reached up and pulled off the helm that covered her face. The pointed tips of the ears and a pale lavender skin, revealed her to be of dark elf origin, although she seemed to have human traits as well, with those piercing amber eyes. The was how the crowd first met Li'dith, queen of the pits, and would shortly become renown for her combat prowess in the arenas, and her brothers and sisters sought after by others, never having known either heritage.
Walking in two worlds but truly belonging to neither, half-elves combine what some say are the best qualities of their elf and human parents: human curiosity, inventiveness, and ambition tempered by the refined senses, birth in the gladiator pits, and touch of darkness of the dark elves. Some Dark Elf/Human Hybrids(EHH) live among humans, finding a home and sense of belonging in the endless fights, either in armies or arenas. Their Eleven kin despise them as abominations and forbidden, along with the mix of the barbarian human blood. Many EHH, unable to fit in to a peaceful society, choose lives of solitary wandering or join with other misfits and outcasts in the adventuring life.
Of Two Worlds
To humans, EHH look like dark elves, and to elves, they look drow monsters. In height, they’re on par with both parents, though they’re neither as slender as elves nor as broad as humans. They range from under 5 feet to about 6 feet tall, and from 100 to 210 pounds, with men only slightly taller and heavier than women. EHH men do have facial hair, and often grow thick beards to mask their faces. EHH coloration and features lie somewhere between their human and elf parents, though they complexion has tints of their dark elf origins.
Gladiators or Wanderers
EHH have no lands of their own, and are outcasts due to appearance in most to the civilized world of man, and the forests of the elves. There are so few of them that have left the ruins of the Kingdom of Pe'ritha Norr, they have no communities of their own, and often seek out battle as that is all they have ever known, even after the madness consumed their masters and parents.
In most parts of the world, though, EHH are uncommon enough that one might live for years without meeting another. Some EHH prefer to avoid company altogether, wandering the wilds as trappers, foresters, hunters, or adventurers and visiting civilization only rarely. Like elves, they are driven by the wanderlust that comes of their longevity. Others, in contrast, throw themselves into the thick of society, particularly enjoying the dark unbody roles or as swindlers, fighters or cutthroats..
Half-Elf Names
EHH have no naming conventions as they were born slaves, in the pits of Pe'ritha Norr, though the next generation may shift to something more to their adopted society
