Homebrew Weeping Angel Species Details

A statue. You're just a statue. That is all. That must be all. You're clearly not a gargoyle, after all- you're not moving. So you must be just a statue. And yet, every time we look away, you've changed. Strange. A famous healer once explored the realms, and spoke of statues that moved when nobody was looking, stalking their prey. But that was another plane, yes? Another world. Such things would never happen here. It would require the work of a powerful mage, yet you exude no magical aura. We shall have to contact the healer tomorrow. First, let us sleep...

Weeping Angel Traits

As a Weeping Angel, you have the following unnerving traits.

Age

Weeping Angels do not age. Time itself parts to let them through- perhaps out of some age-old pact, perhaps out of fear.

Alignment

Weeping Angels follow no code, yet do not seek out chaos either. Thus, these terrifying creatures are expected to be neutral evil with no known variation.

Size

The size of angels is widely variable- some are as small as human infants, while rare occasions have shown building-sized statues to take their traits. They typically fall within 5 to 6-and-a-half feet tall.

Speed

You are fast. Faster than most creatures can fathom. Blink-and-you'll-miss-it fast. Your base walking speed is 50 feet.

Aberration

Your creature type is aberration, rather than humanoid.

Innate Spellcasting

You know the true strike cantrip. At 3rd level, you can also cast vampiric touch with this trait. Once you cast it, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Claws of Stone

You have advantage on attacks made with unarmed strikes. Your unarmed strikes deal 1d8 slashing damage. This damage increases to 1d10 at level 5, 1d12 at level 6, 2d6 at level 11, and 2d8 at level 17.

Limited Damage Resistance

You have resistance to non-magical slashing, piercing, and bludgeoning damage when you're petrified

Quantum Lock

When observed, you are petrified until unobserved. If you are unobserved, you have advantage on Initiative checks. If at any point during your turn you become observed, you become petrified again.

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.
