Homebrew Xotal Species Details
Overview; The Xotal are from the continent of Ikitar -my home brew continent-; once being the ruling species of the continent, they were forced to the lower east side of the continent by immigration onto the continent of Ikitar Forming the kingdom of Sora, they established a monarchy like their neighboring kingdom Ignis noble. the kingdom was strong and profitable for 50,000 years having 16 rulers (each individual Xotal has a life span of about 3,000 years average.)
The beginning:
The Xotal people were the first to exist on the continent of Ikitar, they inhabited the entire continent which - at the time- was a fruitful nesting grounds for metallic dragons in the mountains to the far North side of the continent. The people focused on agriculture, often trading with their dragon neighbors, isolated from the outside world. But with trading with the dragons, the Xotal people were introduced to magic items and began to experiment with these items wanting to develop their own magic, with the intent to harness the ways of nature to produce plentiful crop. The peoples gained access to spells as the years went by, indeed the crop was plentiful, but a individual Xotal was attempting to learn ways of teleportation magic, in these experimentation's with this unstable magic - at the time- led to an infusion of the magic into his body. He of course went on to reproduce, his children too found themselves with limited teleportation abilities. Then their children had teleportation and so on and so on till the entire population possessed the ability to cast "misty step" three times a day.
The settlers from across the water:
It has been roughly 15,000 years since the mark of the magic revelation when the coastal tribes noticed large silhouettes on the horizon, that were getting closer and closer by the hour. By the next morning the settlements by the coast were greeted with large boats containing strange beings, Humans, Elves, and dwarfs flooded the beaches. The Xotal welcomed the ships with open arms and helped the visitors set up temporary camp sites....but the guests were soon to be found as invaders seeking the wealth in the land. As well as the dragons who inhabited it. The dragons learned of the arrival of the humanoid tribes closer to the mountains , warning them of the pain and suffering these invaders would bring and helped them spread word around the continent that these foreigners were here to take and kill the land. With the aid of the dragons the Xotal silently prepared to defend themselves for battle and had the coastal tribes begin to gently remove the travelers and send them on their way. The coastal tribes chief's confronted the "leaders" and politely asked them to leave, immediately, the invaders were of course suspicious but agreed. However, the immigrants were not to leave this clearly fruitful land ....without a fight, after all they came here for wealth. In the night the colonizers sleighed the coastal people in their sleep, and declared war on the people of Ikitar with a bloody cry.
Xotal Traits
Bite, misty step (3 uses per long rest), proficiency in nature and survival.Mystic travel
You have the ability to create a pathway through physical space and step through it. A trait passed from generation to generation. You can cast the spell Misty Step, you can cast this spell again whenever you finish a short or long rest. Additionally, you may cast this spell with the appropriate spell slot.
If combined with a fiet, the individual can access a single teleportation spell per longrest.
Bite
Your fanged maw is a natural weapon, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with it, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier.

this race is able to speak and write primordial and one other language of the players choice.
size
The average height of a Xotal male averages between 5"10- 6" weighing approximately 150-170 lbs . Females height average is between 5"5'- 5"9' weighing approximately 130-150 lbs .
speed
the Xotal have a walking speed of 35 ft, a swim speed of 20, a climbing speed of 30. These are a nimble and swift people, but their fur often slows them in the water.

Your Dexterity increases by 2, and your Wisdom increases by 1
Age
Sexual maturity is reached around 500 years of age in Xotal, it is at this time that female Xotal begin to develop their 'Second mouth' in their tail.
Second mouth
This allows female access to the ' bite attack' trait in the species at the age of 500 and up. This ' second mouth' is located in the tail of a female, developed as a defense mechanism to protect children from danger as the females skin flaps on the mouth only open enough to allow eating. This jaw can not be used to eat, only to bite, and acts as retractable claws for the females. This gives females access to the 'bite attack'
