Homebrew Bovain Species Details
Bovain Race Details
Some bovain herds cloister in remote forest strongholds, preferring to spend their days with the woods. Others may create settlements like those of other non-druidic races as they create more and more inventions, while still living in harmony with the surrounding environment and its creatures.
When provoked, bovains demonstrate formidable skills with weapons and druidic magic and oftentimes combustible DIY weaponry.
Fiercely Loyal
To a bovain their friends and family are everything, this most always includes the whole of their herd. To bring harm to any person or thing they hold dear would be like putting a red sheet in front of a bull.
Gaining the loyalty of a bovain is very hard. Yet once the connection is made it is even harder to break.
Natural Builders
You can take the materials out of nature, but you can’t take the nature out of the material. The small remnants of their natural origins still remaining in processed materials like lumber and metal still call out to bovains in many ways. To those who don’t have this connection it appears to them that bovains can create amazing machines and devices with no directions or prior teachings at all. It’s almost as if the metal itself is guiding their hands and showing them what it was meant to become.
However, where some bovains create new things like art pieces, machines and weaponry, others prefer to return processed objects back into nature, almost like conducting a funeral. They find ways to break things back down into their base components and let nature safely reclaim them.
Down to Earth
Despite their natural tinkering skills and inherent want to invent new devices and machines, bovains are actually extremely connected to nature. They give the plants and animals around them the utmost respect and see even the smallest blade of grass like a next door neighbor.
If they ever must bring any living thing to the end of its time in the mortal circle of life they do it with great respect and find any way possible to use every part of the plant or animal. They try their best to work around or with nature, not against it.
Knowledge Seeking Pioneers
Unlike most kinds of druidic people, bovains will actively leave their settlements and villages on small adventures in an effort to collect more knowledge to bring back to their people. Sometimes when they find a place with way too many new sources of information they lay new roots and create whole new settlements as offshoots of their original just to be closer to the newly discovered information hotspot.
These new pop up settlements normally are founded by young members of old herds looking for new opportunities. The older members of bovain herds are often very reluctant to leave their original homes.
Bovain Names
If a bovain herd is more connected to nature or are druidic they will use names similar to those of elves or fey. If the herd is more modern and centered on invention and innovation they will adopt more western style names much like those of humans.
Sometimes bovains adopt the nicknames or titles outsiders give them under the assumption that those who need names can call them whatever they wish.
