Homebrew Abolethian Species Details
Lanky yet dense, Cnugnnoxz propells herself through the water. Aquamarine tentacles pushing her forward as her four red eyes scan the deep. It was seldom she would make a trip to the surface, but the opportunity to share knowledge and stories with likeminded engineers was not one to pass up, it is her fathers side that makes her hungry to know more.
Most of her kind would need a disguise -- half aberrations aren't generally looked well upon -- but her work is well known and well renowned enough that she has the unique privilege to show her strange face above the surface.
-Sophicia, librarian of esoteric tales
Abolethians live lives in search of knowledge and stories. Either made of two abolethians parents or an aboleth and a humanoid, their ancestry demands they feed by learning. Many of the excited conversations abolethians have telling stories may be unheard to others however, as their telepathy allows them simply to tell the others without needing to speak.
Curious Gaze
Abolethian curiosity is innate, manifesting in their frequent gazing with multiple eyes and constant feeling with tentacles. Abolethians average slightly over 5.5 feet tall and weigh 120 to 180 pounds. Their blue or green faces usually sport wide, curious eyes. They lack hair, instead being bald or possessing a set of vestigial tentacles others may find attractive.
An Abolethian's personality is usually blatant, shown through the stories they like and topics they tend to circle back to. When in the presence of other individuals they are not yet friendly with, they will keep their tentacles well organized and groomed. Abolethians tend to dress gaudier, with vibrant tones of singular or colors.
The hunt for knowledge
As far as Abolethians are concerned, being alive is a simple given. What people do with it is far more important. While elves, with their similar lifespans, take their time & savor the world's beauty, Abolethians are far different. They're more like sharks, eternall pushing forward in a constant hunger for knowledge.
Abolethians will push words out in gushing geyser when speaking to most about their interests, continuously talking to get out the many thoughts swimming around in their minds. When with closer acquaintances, though, they tend to speak telepathically, something both more intimate and efficient, stopping them from stumbling over words.
While Abolethians are thirsty for knowledge & stories, they still take time for fun. They especially appreciate comedy, finding mirth & relaxation as important as their research. Most Abolethians tend to go into research: leaning into fields like wizardry, artificing, and engineering. Their compulsive need for knowledge often drives them to great lengths and risks for the next big story or discovery.
A pleasant darkness
Abolethians settle down in the inky depths of lakes or caves. Despite living underwater, they can easily bear the sun's rays without the pain their Aboleth forebears would experience. Their homes tend to be well hidden, not many others tend to explore deep-sea caves. Despite this, they welcome any visitors they find, valuing the stories adventurers pick up.
Abolethians who settle in human lands are commonly valued for their researching prowess. Schools snap up Aboleth teachers, guaranteeing that the class will have a great teacher that engages their students in the material. An Abolethian might teach several generations within a single town over their expanded lifetime, but they are not immune to wanderlust if they feel there's more stories out there.
Abolethian Names
Abolethians have a name from each of their aboleth or abolethian ancestors, as well as their own new name, and a nickname that people with different vocal structures can pronounce. Abolethians may inheret names from fathers, mothers, grandmother's, grandfather's, or any other ancestor no matter how ancient. Ancestral names will always be written and recorded in chronological order. Abolethians place alot of value on individuality, thus every aspect of the self can be discovered without worry of overlap with another, personal aboleth names may be difficult to pronounce for other races as that lowers the chance of anyone else already having it. When dealing with humans and others who prefer something they can pronounce, an abolethian will give a portion of their name that is pronounceable to others.

Regardless of what spurs them to adventure, abolethians who adopt this way of life know thatthey themselves could wind up a story, told throughout the ages.
