Homebrew Mothfolk Species Details

Like most races, mothfolk come in an assortment of shapes, sizes, and aesthetics. Many originate from the north and are typically seen with thick capes of neck fluff and their wings wrapped around them like cloaks. Their southern counterparts, however, typically have their wings resting straight down their back with a chitinous body for a more open design that allows better cooling. Of course, there are many that are a mixture of the two.

These folk are mostly nocturnal and travel via a mixture of walking and flight, although walking is the preferred method. Their wings tend to be delicate so flight is usually reserved for urgency.

A majority of mothfolk drift to nature and magic based classes such as druid, sorcerer, warlock, and wizard. As always, there will be those that stray from the beaten path, so don't let that stop you from choosing the class that best suits your specific moth buddy :)

Moth Sight

Many species and races are attracted to light. Moths are no exception. When performing a Perception check to look for a light source (ex. you are in a cave and there are two tunnels. They may seem the exact same to other party members, but mothfolk have a better chance of spotting a light at the end of one of the tunnels), mothfolk and all their variants/subraces get a +3 advantage.
