Homebrew Ape Species Details
Orangutans are great apes native to the rainforests of Indonesia and Malaysia. They are now found only in parts of Borneo and Sumatra, but during the Pleistocene, they ranged throughout Southeast Asia and South China. Classified in the genus Pongo, orangutans were originally considered to be one species. From 1996, they were divided into two species: the Bornean orangutan (P. pygmaeus, with three subspecies) and the Sumatran orangutan (P. abelii). In 2017, a third species, the Tapanuli orangutan (P. tapanuliensis), was definitively identified. The orangutans are the only surviving species of the subfamily Ponginae, which genetically diverged from the other hominids (gorillas, chimpanzees, and humans) between 19.3 and 15.7 million years ago.

The apes are in fact at least four times as strong as humans, according to biologist Alan Walker, formerly of Pennsylvania State University. And scientific research suggests the difference in strength between the two is down to how well the muscles perform. Apes get a +4 to strength.

Going apeshit
While going apeshit, apes rely entirely on their animal instincts and completely give in to their anger, destroying anything in their way.
While going apeshit, apes who are not encumbered get:
- Rolling with advantage in combat.
- Resistance to damage until going apeshit is over and then all damage is applied at once.
- Your intelligent mind turns off so you cannot be persuaded, or charmed during this state.
- If you are able to cast spells, while going apeshit you are unable to do so as you cannot concentrate.
- You gain a +2 damage roll to all attacks made while going apeshit.
Apes can only go Apeshit, (X times per day). Where X is equal to your character level.
Ape smarts
During evolution, apes went down the route of strength, rather than intelligence. Thus apes are cursed with a -3 to intelligence.
