Homebrew BugFolk Species Details

BugFolk is an interesting race to say the least. But one thing I could say about them is that they are great Builders especially working with rocks and planning their cities or towns Underground instead of a mountain Hill… Sure on my travels I saw some that were made in mountains but still.  very interesting and diverse kinds of people. - Unknown Adventure.

 

Born of insects as their name implies, The BugFolk walks on weary legs through the world. Shaped by whatever gods or densities that made them. BugFolk originally hatched from an insect egg with the many brothers and sisters hatching At the same time. Many don't survive since others will try to eat their siblings to survive. Some BugFolk will never leave their homeland behind, some will go out and become architects of the greatest buildings in the world.

Weary Insect Kin

BugFolk looks very much like an insect but more humanoid form and many times bigger than their counterparts.  The first found BugFolks had many colors on them and many variants. Some have horns like a beetle, while others have more of a look of a wasp's. They don't have a uniform appearance like other races.

The blood of the ancestors of insects runs strong through their Hives. Some will have more same-looking BugFolks Or very diverse.  depends on which hives you go too

Self-Sufficient Hives

To any Bugfolk, the hive is more important than life itself. Bugfolk owes their devotion and respect to their hive above all else, even the gods. Each Bugfolk conduct reflects on the reputation of his or her hive, and bringing notoriety to the hive can result in a lesser job or worse exile. Each Bugfolk knows his or her station and duties within the hive, and social standards demand maintaining the bounds of that position.

A continual drive for self-improvement reflects the self-sufficiency of the race as a whole. Bugfolk values skill and excellence in all endeavors. They hate to fail, and they push themselves to extreme efforts before they give up on something. A Bugfolk holds mastery of a particular skill as a lifetime goal.

Though all Bugfolk strives to be self-sufficient, they recognize that help is sometimes needed in difficult situations. But the best source for such help is the hive, and when a hive needs help, it turns to another Bugfolk Hives before seeking aid from other races—or even from the gods.

Bugfolk has personal names given at birth, but they put their family house first before the birth name as a mark of their social standing. A childhood name or nickname is often used among clutchmates as a descriptive term or a term of endearment. The name might recall an event or center on a habit.

Young BugFolk grows quickly. They walk hours after hatching, attain the size and development of a 10-year-old human child by the age of 3, and reach adulthood by 15. They live to be around 80 to 100.

BugFolk tends to extremes, making a conscious choice for one side or the other in the cosmic war between good and evil. It's normally the whole Hive that will pick one or the other.  They can be great Builders while others great tyrants.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, One other language and Qotyaian. Qotyaian is thought to be one of the oldest languages. The language sounds quick clicking. Of course, they had a written form of this but only Bugfolk keep them to themselves and never teaching another species how to read it.
