Homebrew Buzmaur Species Details
“Mission objective: -find host-use host to serve the flayer lord-”
The synthezied organic matter leaves it chamber as it begins its mission to serve.
“I must feed to survive, and I must service to serve”
They serve one purpose: to be disposable tools of the mind flayers. Some keep their natural form and latch to hosts becoming horrible monsters, and others take on the appearance of other materials influencing their target or host in a tactical manner. Some break away from the control of the flayers, but they always find another being to replace them as their master. They’re known to develop the feelings of their hosts if attached for too long, leading to their use by the flayers dwindling every day.
Synthesized Form
Buzmaur are a synthetic race made from the mutated brain cells from dead mind flayers. it common for them to be made up of more than one dead flayer, causing them to become insane and sometimes uncontrollable. They are all made different colors based on the personality of the dead flayer but most retain a pale grey coloration, but they are not to adapt coloration based on their environment or just for notability. More tactical or espionage based Buzmaur have been know to take the appearance of small machines or even plants.
Plastic tendency
Standard Buzmaur that fill their role are often recycled after their mission is complete; as such an efficient agent they often have short lives. Buzmaur that deviate are prone to making a connection with a sentient creature and living as a hermit with their host or in low profile areas.
Buzmaur Names
The only identity most Buzmaur associate with is their product number and their mission objective, most don’t have need for names; that being said, some take violent virtue names as a way of tactical intimidation. Buzmaur that deviate can have any name; it all depends on what their host refers to them as.
Predators by design
Most don’t know of the Buzmaur’s existence to be able to judge them, they are often slippery, charismatic or intimidating, so people they do meet and form relationships with often get along with them whether they like it or not. Adventures that do know of these creatures treat them as a priory target because they know what they are capable of.
Buzmaur Traits
Buzmaur are weak in their natural form but often very intelligent and sneaky.Symbiotic potential
When not bonded, you are considered prone but take no movement related nerfs. On successful enchantment school spells or a successful deal, you take up the same space as your target and form around them. You can appear as armor, flesh, a second skin, or a whole new body. The target creature can grow to large or stay the same size. This effect changes the stat block; stat both the kalashtar and the host keep their strongest stats but replace their weakest with the other’s. You then take half of the weaker creatures stats and add them to the stronger stats; stats are rounded down. Half of the symbiote speed is also added to hosts speed rounding down to the lowest multiple of 5. When rolling for initiative, the one of the pair with a higher roll is taken and the other goes directly after. While bonded, the kalashtar will take the damage but only take half. The other half will be transferred to the host as physic damage. Healing is also split between them as one target.
limbless void
You can not hold objects, rather you assimilate them. Mundane items can be replicated by your oozey or mechanical features and so can magical weapons, But you can not use non weapon or armor magical items. When you unequipt an item you instead forget how use it, that specific item is then lost forever unless another one is found to assimilate. This applies to armor as well.
Ability Score Increase
Your Intelligence score increases by 1, and your Charisma score increases by 2.
Age
Most Buzmaur don’t count age because they don’t care, but a Buzmaur can survive as long as they have a host who consumes energy; they can also halt their hosts aging as long as them as long as the connection is mutualism.
Alignment
Buzmaur are often chaotic or neutral. They may serve the mind flayers but the Buzmaur care less about them and more about their mission given. They are also not often anything but neutral unless they defect. Minor defections also include completing their mission but causing excess causality.
Size
Kalashtar are always tiny, some have been known to make hives of 3-5 but they always stay under 2 cubic feet. Once they attach to a host they can grow the host to the large or stay the same.

Your base walking speed is 15 feet. You are very slow because you crawl.
