Homebrew Vestrale Species Details
A people of Peace and Love, this is who the Vestrales are. They live as equals in a small community that protects a crossing to the Feywild plane. Born from Vestra*, -The Archfey Sovereign of the Blooming Court- the Vestrales grew up close to the Feys of the Court and their magic. The impact of the Blooming Court on their physique is obvious, nature is a part of their being.
Vestrales are a very creative people, well versed in all kinds of arts. A lot of renowned bards, storytellers and painters are Vestrales and travel the world to tell the Tales of their hometown and of the Fey entities they worship and protect.
Archfey Heritage
The fey heritage of the Vestrales has left a clear imprint on their appearance. They generally are beautful and enticing. Their scent is strong, they smell sweet, like flowers or honey. Vestrales' anatomy is much like the one of a flower. A Vestrale's hair is generally like a bush, it can be cut and grown back easily. They have skin with a similar texture to leaves. The color variations are as diverse as the plants of the world they live in. They go from brownish tones to very light green, bluish tones or fushia. Their eyes are often yellow or orange. Sometimes they are green or white. All hairs and lashes on Vestrales' bodies are replaced with flower petals. Their ears are as long and pointy as the Elves'.
Like all plants, Vestrales' bodies have markings. These markings grow with time and have very elegant shapes, following the curves of one's body. Their veins are more or less visible on their skin.
A Vestrale’s appearance may vary depending on the season. Like plants, some of them keep the same appearances all year long, others lose their bright colors in Winter before going back to it when Spring comes. And some of them live in a place that doesn't allow them to change. If there isn't much sun or water, they can be stuck with a rotting look.
A Peaceful life
Vestrales live in peace and harmony within their community. They are the guardians of the ancient crossing between the material plane and the Fey city of Tillora. The community is discreet and secluded, protected by ancient spells and Fey magic. Their people have a very deep connection to all the Feywild creatures such as fairies, centaurs and satyrs. Some of them chose to live amongst the Vestrales on the material plane.
The most ancient Vestrale families swore to never intefere in the affairs of the world and to stay loyal to the Court and the Archfey Vestra. Even though they are a peaceful people, they mastered the art of combat and are ready to defend the crossing at all cost. Luckily, such events never occured, allowing them tranquility and calm to partake in other activities.
A Vestrale's life revolves around entertainment and artistic activities. They are a very creative people and like to use art as a mean to communicate with each other. A lot of renowned bards, storytellers and painters are Vestrales. At a young age, they leave the community to travel the world and to tell the Tales of the Fey entities they worship and protect.
Each of the great Vestrale families has mastered a craft and they all exchange their knowledge with each other. House Alicante for exemple is a renowned family of Bards. Aster and Silene of House Alicante used to travel the world to sing the songs of the ancient city of Tillora, now, it's their children's turn to sing these tales accross the world. The Vestrales of House Tralesta are famous forgemasters and combatants, those of House Dalhia are tailors, those of House Tulipa are Arcane masters etc.
Photosynthesis
A Vestrale doesn't need to eat. Their body uses photosynthesis as a way of sustaining itself. It automatically absorbs sunlight and uses it to revitalize them. If a Vestrale is out of the sun for too long, their colors will fade as well as their energy. They will literally wither. However, they can't die from it, not directly. It will slowly affect them in a way that varies from an individual to another.
Vestrales can eat and often do, mainly for the taste of food, especially when they are travelling with fellow adventurers, but it is not vital for them to do so. They do need to drink a lot of water and liquids to stay hydrated and well.

Posted Feb 22, 2022Question, how is Vestra's Blessing supposed to work? Is it just additional spells known, that only work with spellcasting feature from class, or can those be cast by characters without spellslots? (other than cantrips)
