Homebrew Young Dragon Species Details
Though dragons guard their broods with a fierce instinct, occasionally an egg does get loose. These eggs will even more rarely survive on their own in the wild. Newborn dragons born this way must find their own way in the world without the guidance or possible corruption of the parent dragon. Some seek isolation to grow strong in the wilderness. Some seek refuge in monasteries or arcane schools. And some find a strong warrior or group of adventurers to imprint the missing parent's role onto.
Despite being raised in such a different setting, these newborns still share some innate tendencies with their draconic relatives. All dragons have an intense love of treasure. The lust for gold and valuables will often drive young dragons into the world. Dragons are also extremely proud creatures, and their pride is often their undoing.

You are born with a set of fledgling wings, which will develop over time. At 1st level, you gain a fly speed equal to your base speed, though only in limited bursts. Once you fly 100', you fall if nothing else is holding you aloft. You recover 50' of flight per long rest. At 3rd level, you instead recover 50' of flight every short rest, and your full 100' of flight every long rest; at 11th level you recover your full 100' every short rest.
Bite
Your fanged maw is a natural weapon, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with it, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. Your maw is considered a light weapon. At 3rd level you can use your bite as a second attack; this cannot be used while using Extra Attack. At 5th level, you deal an additional 1d4 damage of the type appropriate to your color, as shown of the Draconic Ancestry table.

You may only attune to one item that is held or worn on your hands at a time, and you may only hold one weapon or object at a time. You may not use weapons that have the Heavy property, unless you take Great Weapon Fighting as a Feat or Combat style. You have disadvantage on attacks made with weapons that have the do not have the Light property. If you are holding a weapon with the Light property in your claws, you may take advantage of Two-Weapon Fighting along with your maw, though you may not add your ability modifier to the damage of that weapon.
Treasure Horder
Dragons have a natural affinity for gold and treasure. Whenever you make a Wisdom (Perception) or an Intelligence (Investigation) check related to searching for gold or treasure, you are considered proficient in that skill and add double your proficiency bonus to the check, instead of your normal proficiency bonus. You also have the flaw "Inherent Greed: whenever you see treasure, you have a compulsion to grab it and claim it"
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and Draconic. Draconic is thought to be one of the oldest languages and is often used in the study of magic. The language sounds harsh to most other creatures and includes numerous hard consonants and sibilants.
