Homebrew Chyptiriens Species Details
Small, furred, and nocturnal, chyptiriens are bat-like humanoids who live in small communities almost everywhere in the world, though most commonly in caves or forests. These nimble creatures are known for their cunning, their flying prowess, and their surprising enthusiasm and curiosity for the unknown and mysterious.
Open Wings, Open Heart
Chyptiriens are very friendly, and are commonly always ready to help any who needs it. Their own communities typically count between 50 and a few hundred members, and are as often as not mixed with other races. If you are travelling and need shelter, they can be your best bet for a warm, welcome and safe place to sleep, though their villages aren't often built with large and flightless creatures in mind, and most of them live nocturnally.
Appearance
These small creatures aren't very tall, and tend to be very skinny. They are covered in short fur that can vary in color from taupe to tan, passing by russet, peru, chestnut, chocolate, charcoal, pearl, basically every shade of brown and grey you can imagine. Their arms are quite long proportionally to their body, and end in large, clawed hands with two normal fingers, a thumb, and two much, much longer fingers bent sideways to create large wings that attach to the sides of their torso. They have round, fuzzy face with a peculiar-looking upturned nose and beady eyes, prominent eyebrows and very large pointed ears that can reach 10" long.
Chyptirien Names
Chyptiriens names are words from chyptien, their language, and usually area description of the individual in question. Chyptien is a language spoken in ultrasounds, so a chyptirien's true name cannot be heard or spoken by most races, so most chyptiriens will either translate their name into common, or try to reproduce the sounds on a lower frequency, though doing so makes it lose it's meaning in chyptien.
Translated Names: Long-Sleep, Sniffer, Whiteclaw, Big-Ears, Spikewings, Quick-Wit, Trickster, Sharpfang
Lowered Names: Shri'ir, Aasty, Keeshee, Yx, Zis'is, Kysh'u, Riisii
