Homebrew Zerdan (Fennec Fox) Species Details
Zerdan are fennec foxlike humanoids native to hot deserts. They are driven by curiosity and adventure, and tend to be cunning, clever, resourceful, or all of the above to survive in such a harsh environment.
These foxlike creatures tend to be more independent than other canine kin. They may choose to live on their own or in small clans that may or may not consist of members of their own race. Zerdan tend to believe that found families are stronger than those formed by blood.
Zerdans tend to have a fondness and affinity for trinkets and collections. While they still find use for gold and common trade items, odd or unique items may hold additional favor. Fondness for such items, however, can turn enthusiastic collectors into crafty pickpockets.
Zerdan (Fennec Fox) Traits
Your zerdan character has the following racial traits.Ability Score Increase
Your Dexterity or Intelligence score increases by 2. Your Constitution score increases by 1.
Age
Zerdans have lifespans equivalent to humans.
Alignment
Zerdans tend to lean towards a more chaotic nature, but alignment is not pre-determined.
Size
Zerdans are between 3 and 4 feet tall and weigh between 40 and 80 pounds. Your size is Small.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet. You have a burrowing speed of 5 feet.
Darkvision
You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Enhanced Hearing
Due to your large ears, you have advantage on all Perception checks relying on hearing.
Fury of the Fox
When you damage a creature with an attack or a spell and the creature’s size is larger than yours, you can cause the attack or spell to deal extra damage to the creature. The extra damage equals your level. You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Naturally Swift
You can move through the space of any creature that is of a size larger than yours.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.

Posted Oct 13, 2021The new version fixed a very slight error. It now shows "A" (advantage) next to the perception skill as a reminder that all checks related to hearing are rolled with advantage.
