Homebrew Camparlin Species Details

Camparlin are a content and peaceful race. Happy to live merrily in their tribes and roam the open plains freely and without conflict. They pay little mind to the politics and plights of other races unless someone is pulled into the folds of their tribe, to which they can become deeply involved and be fierce warriors for the causes of their friends.
While tending to be passive. They make incredible allies and fearsome enemies so many know to leave them be.

Nature’s Lookout

Camparlins have the upper bodies, down to the waist, of humans, displaying all the human variety of skin tones and features. Their ears are slightly pointed, they have antler-like ossicone's between their foreheads and hairlines, and their faces are wider and squarer than those of elves. Below the waist, they have the bodies of small giraffe, with a smaller range of coloration — a few shades of brown and tan. Most camparlins style their hair and their tails in a similar way to humans and elves.

The upper bodies of camparlins are comparable to a goliath's torso in size, and their lower giraffe bodies average about 6-7 feet tall at the withers. Making them about 10-12 feet at full. They are larger than a human rider mounted on a horse and they often fill roles such as messengers, outriders, look outs, and scouts.

Affinity for Nature

Camparlins celebrate life and growth, and the birth of a calve is always cause for festivities. At the same time, they revere the traditions of the past, and they are voices of memory and history, preserving old ways and keeping alive the legends of ancestral heroes. They feel a close kinship with wild animals, perhaps because of their own giraffe-like bodies, and delight in the feeling of roaming alongside herds and packs of other beasts.

Clans and Community

Camparlin's sense the interconnectedness of the natural world. Thus, they celebrate family and community as microcosms of that greater connection. While they are in no way forced to stick with their blood family, it is rare to find a camparlin choosing solitude. They often forge their own clans, families, and guilds. It's particularly common for them to adopt children outside their race or to keep many pets.

Camparlin Names

Much like Centaurs, Camparlins’ given names are passed down through family lines. The name bestowed on a new calve is typically the name of the most recently deceased family member, keeping alive the memory — and, the Camparlins believe, some shard of the spirit — of the departed. Camparlins don’t use family names, but they wear symbols that represent their family membership. These symbols often include graphical representations of plants, animals, or shared gods.
