Homebrew Cucurbita Species Details

 

Cucurbita (Coo-ker-bit-ah) are lost souls home to the village of Obsitus who have bound themselves to pumpkins. After the mysterious collapse of the village and death of all the villagers, the pumpkins grew rapidly over the town's remains. 

These pumpkins come in all different sizes and colors. Some have warts where others are smooth. Some are orange while others may be white or green. Most are fairly round, but there are quite a few tall or flat ones as well. When a lost soul of Obsitus is bound to one of these pumpkins, a small light appears inside the pumpkin. When their pumpkin is picked up for the first time, the Cucurbita begins to bubble and shift to form similar features to their holder, most notably the eyes, nose, and mouth. During this shifting process, the memories of their holder and the lost soul become intertwined. They, also, acquire a similar personality to their holder. 

Cucurbita hover anywhere between 4-6ft.

Racial Feat: Levitation; can cast at will; no material components needed; levitation can go up to 50ft; can only cast to self

Darkvision

A Cucurbita with darkvision can see in the dark within a specific radius. The Cucurbita can see in dim light within the radius as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. The Cucurbita can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. Many creatures that live underground have this special sense.

Levitation

Cucurbita can cast a levitation spell on themselves without costing an action. This spell will allow them to move vertically up to 60ft. Otherwise, the spell limitations are identical to the levitation spell.
