Homebrew The Dual Soul Species Details

As you are two people in one body, you can switch between souls during a long rest. When you do, switch character sheets to the other soul. This second character sheet may also choose to select a different class, but you must share the same race. Skills and proficiency are different on the second character sheet. You may also speak to the other soul as if it were a person standing in front of you. In addition when you go to sleep, the other soul awakens.

How your souls managed to share a body is determined by you or the GM as you see fit. You can also roll on this chart to determine how it came to be.

Roll a 1d6

1 - You were born a twin, but to save you both, a mage joined your and your siblings, soul to one body while the other died.

2 – A curse has left you and the soul of your beloved trapped in the same body.

3 – A foul trick from the Gods has joined you and your greatest enemy to a single body.

4 – An alchemical experiment fused your soul with another.

5 – A revival spell gone wrong put you in the body of another to share.

6 – You Misty stepped into another’s space, but instead of expelling you, the magic joined you together.

The Dual Soul Traits

During a Long Rest, you can set one of your souls into a dormant state, and allow the other to come forth and control the body.

Unsleeping Guardian

Whenever the Dual Soul is subjected to a spell that forces it to sleep through magical and non-magical means, the current soul is affected, and the dormant soul awakens. When this happens, the soul awakens with 1d8 spell slots if it has any starting with its highest slot, or 1d6 abilities already used since the change was done forcibly.

Duality of Souls

You are Proficient in Perception.

During a Long Rest, you can choose to awaken the other soul, causing the current awaken soul to become dormant. During this time, class, skills, and proficiencies change as well as powers.

You gain a feat at first level.
