Homebrew Yugioh Species Details

You think you're about to win a fight. You've got the enemy surrounded. "Surrender!" you say, "there's no way you can win!" Suddenly, a plucky young humanoid with spiky hair pipes up: "Are you sure about that?" he says smugly. And just like that, the tables turn.

Many consider Yugiohs to be a strange people. Their brightly-colored hair defies logic. Some find their large eyes to be disconcerting. However, what is most confusing to the outside world is their societal structure, which is completely based around card games. These games, or "duels," decide almost everything in Yugioh society: from who gets arrested to who gets good jobs. Some theorize that Yugiohs are capable of cartomancy, or card magic, although the existence of such magics has yet to be proven. In any case, if a Yugioh challenges you to a card game, you're better off declining.

Yugiohs typically have jarringly bright hair in seemingly impossible arrangements, although in some cases their hair appears more typical of human style and coloration. Their eyes are larger than those of humans, and most adorn themselves with thick eyeliner in order to bring attention to them. Yugiohs can have eyes of almost any color, ranging from browns and blues to reds and purples. They typically also have garish clothing to match their hairstyles.

Yugioh Traits

Yugiohs share several common traits.

Freak of Nature

Yugiohs have incredibly spiky hair that can be used much like horns to deal damage.

Heart of the Cards

Yugiohs have a habit of getting lucky right when they need to. When you roll a 1 on the d20 for an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll.

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 1, and your Charisma score increases by 2.

Age

Yugiohs mature at the same rate as humans.

Are You Sure About That?

Yugiohs seem to be able to turn the tides of the battle as things get dire. When your health falls below 10% of your HP maximum, you can add one damage die to your successful attacks. At level 10, this increases to two damage dice. At level 20, this increases to three.

Alignment

Yugiohs tend towards the extremes of alignments--very few are neutral. Most Yugiohs are known for their enlightening power-of-friendship speeches or their world-destroying tendencies. Either way, they tend towards chaotic alignments as well.

Size

Yugiohs are about the same size and build as humans. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Celestial.
