Homebrew Vampire-born Species Details

Vampires are well-known monsters in the world. Many factions, both amateurs who are over their head, and professionals who can take on a vampire toe-to-toe, hunt these creatures, either for sport or money. However, there are rumors of a different type of vampire, one that walks in the sunlight and swims in raging rivers. The vampire-born.

There are many theories on how a vampire-born comes to be. Some believe that they are descendants, many generations removed, of the original vampire, Vlad Dracula. Some believe they are the offspring of pregnant women who were fed on by vampires. Some of the more extreme believe that they are people who were bitten by a vampire but were so holy and good that their bodies fought off the curse, managing to still remain as themselves, except with the power of a vampire.

While it is unknown, very few believe that these creatures actually exist, and for most, it is just a story, something to call someone who is unpopular and anti-social, whispered behind the back.

Vampire-born Traits

While it shares some of the bonus of being a Vampire, it sheds most of the disadvantages, and the hunger to feed on blood is no longer there.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution score increases by 2. Another ability of your choice increases by 1.

Age

Due to the fact that vampire-spawn can originate from any race, their life span ranges wildly. They usually reach adulthood at the same age that their base race does, but their lifespan is doubled.

Alignment

A vampire-born does not swing strongly in either the direction of good or evil. Some are raised by other vampires, and they tend to lean towards evil, and some reject their bloodline, instead choosing to hunt down other evil vampires.

Size

These creatures can range from under 4 to over 6 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size depends on the race that you were before you were inflicted with vampirism.

Bite

While the thirst for blood is diminished, and in most cases completely gone, the ability to drink blood still remains. With your fangs, you can replace one of your attacks with a Bite attack instead. You roll an attack, using your strength modifier + proficiency bonus. On a hit, you sink your teeth in your victim, dealing 2d6 piercing damage and healing for half of the damage dealt. You regain this attack after a short or long rest. The damage increases by an additional 1d6 at 5th level, 8th level, 11th level, and 17th level.

Darkvision

Being part creature-of-the-night has its benefits. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Deceptive Life

You have lived your life lying about your true nature. You have proficiency in the Deception skill.

Necrotic Born

Necrotic blood runs through their veins. You have resistance to necrotic damage.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and two other languages of your choice.
