Homebrew Bilby Species Details
To whom this may concern; I have just discovered another race on this barren continent. They are small blue creatures with V shaped faces similar to that of a mouse, sharp teeth that devours food in seconds, and most notably are their ears. Their ears are larger than their torsos and take the form of hands. I have seen them use their 'ear arms' to grab almost everything they come by. They seem to speak their own language, and the only word I can make out is "bilby". Because most of my men could not catch any of them or communicate with them, they have decided to call them bilbies. Everytime we come close to a bilby they take off or burrow underground. I honestly can't blame them for acting high-strung all the time. They are diminutive creatures compared to the large beasts on this continent, even the humans seem to evolve or rather de-evolve to a more barbaric race. I've only have seen a few of these bilbies and I attempt to start a conversation with one whenever I get the chance, but whether it's because I intimidate them with my size or they have no desire to learn common or both. Making friends with this race seems to be a lost cause. Though not hostile, we have seen bilbies forage for berries and other plants near our camp and even attempt to warn us about certain berries. We have not seen them eat any animals, at least not ones bigger than them. They've eaten small mice and insects, and no other meats. I've begone to theorize that the bilbies were originally herbivorous but evolved to also consume meat as their land is incredibly dry with few vegetation. If none of the bilbies wish to communicate with us and learn common, then we may need to take some by force and teach them common ourselves. Our settlement is only going to last for so long on an unforgivable land. I will order the men to take some of the bilbies and teach them common in order to expand our settlement. I will continue to write these entries for my home and the rest of my colleagues. If we survive.
