Homebrew Warped one Species Details

Warped Ones are those touched by the stars. Well, one particular star, really. Whether this is the cognizant influence of an entity or merely a side effect is unknown. Due to their ties to the un-godly, the Ministry of The Ecclesiastics will hunt Warped Ones down to... 'research' them. Many of them may also manifest other aberrant characteristics, such as pitch-black eyes or tentacles sprouting from their bodies. Personality-wise, they are generally manipulative, and their train of thought can be hard to follow at times, due to the unique way their mind works

Warped one Traits

Your Warped One character has the following racial traits.

Aberrant Nature

Your creature type is Humanoid, but many spells and similar magic may treat you as an Aberration. You register as an Aberration to any magic that detects your creature type, and you are affected by any protective magic against Aberrations, such as the protection from evil and good spell.

Ability Score Increase

Your Charisma score increases by 2, and another ability score of your choice increases by 1.

Age

Warped Ones mature at the same rate as humans, but their bodies do not die by natural means, even though their minds slowly start withering and eventually succumb to madness after 200-250 years, and they may eventually transform into strange, alien abominations.

Alignment

Warped Ones have an innate tendency toward evil, but their actual alignment depends a lot on their upbringing. Evil or not, most Warped Ones are inclined toward a chaotic alignment, usually not caring much about rules set by others.

Size

Warped Ones are of lean, frail build, but are generally taller than most humans. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

Thanks to your aberrant heritage, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray

Abberant Resistance

You have resistance to psychic damage, and advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.

Warped Legacy

You have the ability to conjure a small spatial rift, which can be used to manipulate objects. You can cast the Mage Hand cantrip at will, with the hand taking the form of a small crack in reality. While the hand is not active, you store its power within you. Your unarmed strikes deal 1d4 force damage instead of the normal damage for unarmed strikes while your mage hand cantrip from this trait is not active. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the Arms of Hadar spell as a 2nd-level spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the Crown of Madness spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Deep Speech. Deep Speech doesn't have a set written form; most Warped Ones simply write a phonetic representation of Deep Speech, using another language's script.
