Homebrew Draconis Species Details
Where Dragonborn share more resemblance and history with their draconic ancestors, Draconis share more lineage with their humanoid parents, with little more than draconic blood in their veins and magic in their soul.
Draconis tend to be outgoing, charismatic and know quite well how to bend others to their will. They're quick with their hands, light on their feet and their unique abilities passed to them through their draconic blood give them the skills to back up their typically uptight attitude, the most notable of which being transmogrification.
To an extent, Draconis are able to shift parts of their bodies and subconsciously control their bodies on a cellular level.
Draconis Traits
Draconic Blood in their veins and fire in their hearts, Draconis make for powerful leaders, intimidating villains and valuable allies.Amorphous Identity
One of the more notable quirks of the Draconis and something they gain from their draconic blood is their minor Transmogrification. Stemming from the soulbound connection to the weave they share, they can alter many aspects of themselves, from small things like face details and skin color to things as drastic as their body type or their gender entirely. Draconis have been known to take on different names entirely and live multiple lives at the same time.
This ability of theirs allows them to physically undergo similar affects to that of the Alter Self spell, the major caveat being that hair and eye color must remain the same, as these are descended from their draconic parent. They can alter the size and shape of their limbs, change or grow new appendages and be rid themselves of others at will. This ability can alter their tone of voice, functional gender and body size / shape.

Transmogrification
Some Draconis who become very skilled at controlling their Transmogrification abilities can use it to become more in-tune with their draconic heritage.
Starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to make more limited, yet powerful, use of your Transmogrification. By focusing inward on yourself for ten minutes after a long rest, you may select one of the following options and gain the benefits of it.
Wings. You call forth the freedom and joys of your draconic heritage, causing large scaled wings to grow out of your back. You gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed.
Scales. You call forth the protection and stalwartness of your draconic heritage, causing your skin to harden into scales and take a hue similar to your draconic parent. Your AC increases by 1.
Claws. You call forth the resourcefulness and rage of your draconic heritage, causing your hands to grow into fully scaled, large claws which are natural weapons. If you hit with them, you can deal slashing damage equal to 1d8 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
Breath Weapon. You call forth the ire and devastation of your draconic heritage, causing your throat to brim with elemental energy. When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can replace one of your attacks with an exhalation of magical energy in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus). On a failed save, the creature takes 1d10 damage of the type associated with your Draconic Ancestry. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage. This damage increases by 1d10 when you reach 5th level (2d10), 11th level (3d10), and 17th level (4d10). You can use this Breath Weapon a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.
The Transmogrification lasts until you complete a long rest, at which point you may select a new Transmogrification or maintain the same one.
Languages
Many Draconis immerse themselves in the cultures of their parents. You know Common, Draconic and One language of your choice.
Draconic Ancestry
You have a draconic ancestor, granting you a special magical affinity. Choose one kind of dragon for your Draconic Ancestry. This determines the damage type for your other traits.
