Homebrew Cheagle Species Details
Cheagles are jovial, childlike, herbivorous creatures. They are held in high esteem in some religions; some even consider them "sacred." For this reason, cheagles are considered great mediaries. They very rarely travel away from their forest in the Feywild, and when they do it is typically to accompany a humanoid companion. Despite their high political and social esteem, they are quiet and timid, likely due to the experimentation conducted upon them in centuries past.
Cheagles are typically one to two feet tall with oblong ears that are each about the size of the creature. They are covered in fur, most of which is a pastel color (typically teal, yellow, or pink, though lavender and orange cheagles are not unheard of). They have cream-colored fur on their face and the tips of their ears (children also have a cream-colored "diaper" pattern in their fur). Their eyes are large and are typically black, dark brown, dark blue, or dark violet.
Cheagle Traits
"I think cheagles are rather cute. It would be quite soothing to have a bunch just playing all around. Though I must admit, for 'sacred beasts' I was expecting something a bit more... majestic.”So Cute...
Cheagles are fairly adorable. Because of this, you have proficiency in Charisma (Persuasion).
Sacred Beasts
Cheagles were given a home in the Feywild to protect them from the experimentation that formerly occurred on their species. Though they were originally considered humanoid, the Feywild is now inextricably linked to their biology, and they are now considered "Fey" creatures.
Mieu Fire
Starting at level 2, you can breathe fire in a 5 by 30 ft. line. You can roll as many d6 as your proficiency bonus, and the target can make a Dexterity saving throw to avoid the attack. Upon a successful save, the target takes half damage.
A cheagle does not have full control over this ability until they are level 5. Until that time, any time the attack misses or the target makes their saving throw, the surroundings can catch fire. This will automatically happen if the attack misses, and will occur on the successful saving throw on a percentile dice roll of 51 to 100.
Mieu Attack
Cheagles have incredibly thick skulls, which have been known to split stone. Your Strength increases by 2, to the maximum of 20. Additionally, you gain the ability to make a headbutt attack. Goes against target's armor class, and takes 1d6 bludgeoning + Strength modifier, despite the cheagles' small size.
You can use this feature five times per long rest.
Mieu Fly
Cheagles can fly, when they reach a certain age, though the uses for the flight are limited. Starting at level 10, their flight can propel their movement, and their walking speed is boosted to 30 ft. and is lifted a foot in the air. You are not impacted by rough terrain when "walking" in this way. You can also fly vertically for a height that is 1.5 times their proficiency bonus, rounded down. You cannot move around when they are flying at such a height, but one of your comrades can hang on to your feet and you can lift them up, regardless of their weight or size.
Ability Score
Cheagles are naturally intelligent. You gain +2 to Intelligence.
Cheagles are widely held in regard. You gain a plus 1 to Charisma.
If your character is old enough to remember when the cheagles were still being experimented on, you take a -1 to Charisma. You instead gain a +2 in Wisdom or Constitution, or can get a +1 in both.
Languages
You know Common, Sylvan, Primordial, and one other language. You also have advantage on identifying Celestial, though you cannot read it unless it is one of your chosen languages.
Long Life
Cheagles live for roughly a thousand years. When they reach 15, they are considered an adult, and loose the "diaper" fur pattern, which becomes the color of the cheagle's non-cream-colored fur.
Your Voice is so Annoying
You have a very high-pitched voice, that can sometimes get on people's nerves. Make any verbal Charisma (Persuasion) roll with disadvantage.
