Homebrew Babol Species Details

The Babols are one of the fundamental entities of the structure of the world, small creatures straddling myth and reality whose origin is lost in time and memories, probably always present on Gaia. Few know of their existence and have had the privilege of knowing them directly. The wisest frequently remember them as the 'Guardians of Memories'.

Aspect

A Babol has a mostly tiny size: in adulthood the tallest individuals reach about 45 cm, while their weight can vary from 4 to 6 kilos regardless of their sex. Currently it is not yet clear or recognizable whether there is actually a gender difference between them. They live organized in communities that usually do not exceed twenty elements that tend to take on the same range of colors, slightly different from individual to individual depending mainly on mood. The small body of a Babol is covered with satin hair, easily ruffled like a plumage but more like an animal fur. The large eyes of these little beings are the most expressive part of the face, from which it is quite easy to guess the emotion they are feeling at that moment. The lifespan of a Babol is not confirmed to date due to the more than rare encounters with this species, although it is also evident in the appearance of some individuals that time has an aging effect on them.

 

Society

Babols love hierarchical order and precision in the tasks to be performed. The micro-communities they organize to survive provide for a rigid division of roles with the older individual to head the rest of the family he leads, deciding tasks, timing and various movements of the group. They are not at all silent beings, they tend to talk for hours about any topic trying to analyze down to the smallest details every nuance or variable of the concept.

 

The Babols are the Guardians of Memories. The memories of every mortal about Gaia reside in a world almost superimposed on that of reality; like a sort of transparent veil, the World of Memories preserves the memories of each soul of Gaia and covers the material world following its shapes and dimensions, without really coming into contact with it if not forced to do so. The Babols are dedicated to the defense of this World and spend their entire existence ensuring that the rules that govern it are never broken, pillars of the balance of Gaia herself. The World of Memories is in fact intimately part of the entire system intrinsic to Gaia: on the other hand, without memories there is no experience, and without experience there is no future.

The Babols tend for reasons related to their role to Pure Neutrality, to treat the Memoirs of every mortal in the same way. It is not uncommon, however, that many of them settle on a slight partiality, oscillating between the Neutral Legal and the Chaotic Neutral.

Upside down

When they are in the World of Memories, the Babols have the innate ability to reverse gravity at will, managing to walk upside down without any problem. They can transfer this effect to the creatures around them within a radius of 9 meters, even non-allies.
