Homebrew Artic Slothfolk Species Details

Friendly Loners

Like Goliaths, most Artic Slothfolk live in the mountains.  Unlike Goliaths, Artic Slothfolk lives exclusively in cold places.  They live by themselves, though will welcome travelers. Some of them come down from the mountains to civilization, though often complain about the temperature.

Slow But Steady

The Artic Slothfolk race are not known for their erratic movement or their blistering speed, rather they live life at a much slower pace, taking the world in and concentrating on what matters rather than letting opportunity pass it by due to being on the move all the time like other races.

Due to their slow lifestyle, they tend to grow much larger than the average humanoid as they do not burn off the food they consume easily, this leads to many sloths being seen as overweight or fatty, in reality, they are mostly muscle under a thick layer of fat giving them a hearty constitution. You can expect the average Artic Slothfolk to reach a height of 7ft, not something an unsuspecting traveler would expect when they look into the artic they inhabit.

Artic Slothfolk Names

Artic Slothfolk are often given short names, to waste as little time as possible speaking it. Because they are so rare, gender patterns in their names haven't been common enough to be considered.

Though they are few and far between, their unique method of inter-species telepathy has allowed them to form enough of a social hierarchy to where a longer name is a sign of respect. Because of this, the name of an artic slothfolk can be extended upon gaining more prestige. An example is the folk tale of apprentice Adoc, who learned from her master to become a powerful wizard and was renamed Adozena after protecting her village from the siege of a dragon.
