Homebrew Cenote Species Details
Glittering Amber Free-Roaming gingerly touched the side of the chrysalis. She could feel the warmth of it. It's round shape pushed out from the bedrock, formed naturally of the vines and roots of the place. "Will it hurt?"
The druid didn't pause the incantation. His shape was longer and thinner than her own, and her next shape would be even larger. But Waning Moon Burrows-Deep still responded, once the prayer was done. "Your body will be destroyed and remade, true. But you will be sleeping. You will be safe. You will dream of what you will grow into, and you will wake prepared for it." He finally looked up, amidst a low chitter, to stare at her with four luminous eyes. "You won't feel a thing."
"But will it hurt in other ways?"
Waning Moon turned thoughtful, tilting his head. He slowly rose to his feet, staff grasped in his hand. "Perhaps, you will miss this. But this is your choice, Glittering Amber. You will grow to be more. You may miss this person you are now, as a drone, but after the Morph...After it, it will be clear." He tapped the shell once with the head of his staff. It opened, gooey insides offering an inviting smell to Glittering Amber. "You will serve the Hive well in this way."
"Maybe." Glittering Amber stood, naked before her destruction. She gripped the sides of the shell, and pulled herself inside. "But I'll serve me well, to finally be at home in my skin, Druid."
