Homebrew Bobbit Species Details
Bobbits are surreal characters dreamt up by artist Marty Abbe-Schneider. If they exist in your D&D campaign, then you're playing a really weird one, or at least are about to, because that's their backstory in the campaign as well: an artist dreamed them into existence. Or not. Their origin can also be super ambiguous, whatevs.
Appearance
Bobbits have odd, smooth, usually white bodies, with two pupil-less eyes--also white, either perfectly round or oval-shaped. Their head and torso are usually a pear shape but can really be any shape that is smooth and round--circle, sausage, oval. I've just found that pear is easiest to draw, and the most compelling. They have two arms and two legs, and no fingers, thumbs or toes. Their limbs are just sort of rounded off at the end. They can totally still hold stuff like a person. Don't worry about how.
Bobbits usually do not wear clothes. Anything they do end up donning usually serves some kind of function. For instance, where armor would usually go on over a shirt and britches, bobbits are more likely to just toss on a breastplate or a shoulder pad, and press on, full Donald Duckin' it.
Little Weirdos
It is unclear how many bobbits there are, and will likely remain unclear during your campaign. Any bobbit members of your party don't have much to say on the matter, because they can't talk. How much a bobbit can understand is up to the character playing them. Bobbits certainly are curious, and will investigate and respond to the world around them, but their featureless appearance means that only their physicality gives any hint to their motivations.
Nooks and Crannies
Bobbits love a good hidey-hole. Creatures able to fit through any opening and unable to make vocal noises make for great spies and scouts. Do they like being spies and scouts? Unclear. Do they dislike it? Also unclear.
Motivations
Bobbits can set out on the adventurer’s path for literally any reason. Maybe a bobbit wants to defend its communities or support its friends. Maybe it saw an appealing piece of lint on a cart. Or it could have just crawled into a person's pack and gotten stuck. Maybe they have no motivations, or all of them. Whatever your bobbit character wants, it does not need to make sense.
Bobbit Names
Bobbits do not have names (or sexes/genders). If you are given a nickname by your adventuring party, you can decide whether or not to respond to it. Any pronouns for a bobbit are fine, and it probably won't care. Feel it out and, address it however.
Bobbit Traits
Your bobbit character has a number of traits that definitely make it a strange little bastard.Ability Score Increase
Your Constitution and Dexterity score each increase by 1.
Age
Bobbits live forever or die whenever, idk. I have no idea how they reproduce, and it's weird that you would be curious about that, you pervert.
Alignment
Bobbits barely adhere to the laws of physics, so they sure as hell aren't going to follow the laws of any society. Whether they even understand other beings is up for debate. A bobbit can be a blank slate for whatever ideals you want to inject into your campaign, but are probably best served with no ideals--feel free to go full chaos agent.
Unspecific Size
Due to their surreal nature and the laziness of their creator, Bobbits' sizes are fluid and nonspecific. At the start of each day, you may choose your size for that day between the following options: small, medium, or large.
To determine your weight, roll a d12, and multiply the roll by 10. That is your base weight for the day.
Your chosen size does not change your movement speeds, and you count as your chosen size when dragging, lifting, or carrying any objects.
If you forget to actively choose a size and roll for weight, your size defaults to small, and the DM decides your weight (min 10lbs, max 120lbs).
Speed
Your base walking speed is 25 feet. You also have a climbing speed of 25 feet.
Malleable
You can fit through any nonmagical opening, regardless of its relative size to you (for example: through keyholes, under doorways, through mouse holes, etc.) as though it's difficult terrain.
Weird Body
You do not take fall damage.
You do not have a mouth and do not need to eat or breathe. Therefore, you cannot be starved, drowned, or suffocated. You can be poisoned by poisonous gas or liquid if your body is completely enveloped in it. In general, to gain the benefits or suffer the effects of a substance that normally must be inhaled or ingested, you must be fully enveloped or submerged to receive the full effect.
You do not need to sleep. However, during a short or long rest, if you do not remain completely still, you do not gain the benefit of that rest.
Little Scamp
You can move through the space of any creature that is of a size larger than yours.
Also, if you are not holding anything in your arms, you can scamper, running on all fours like a quadruped. When you move in this manner, your speed is doubled (from 25ft to 50ft), but you cannot attack, or interact with objects. You may still use your "malleable" trait, but in doing so, still treat the movement through the opening or cramped space as your bipedal speed over difficult terrain. You may transition to all fours while holding things, but doing so causes you to drop any items you are holding. Transferring to all fours in combat is a bonus action. Standing back up on two legs requires a full action.
Languages
Since you do not have the benefit of a mouth, you cannot speak. You can understand, read, and write one language of your choice. If, through the benefit of your class or by some other means, you know another language, you still cannot speak it.
