Homebrew Afarensi Species Details

The Afarensi have a long and detailed history that every child is taught from a young age, though the written records were lost long ago during the Great Migration. Thought to be created by the god Haplor, they were one of the first natural races of the Material Realm, and there are many Afarensi who believe this makes them superior to all but the lost dragons of yore. 

Once a light-hearted and mischievous people, this all changed during the Great Migration, when the Dark Dragons took it upon themselves to wipe out the Afarensi for good. Though the Afarensi fought back valiantly, the great forests where they had once lived were destroyed, and they were forced to flee across the sea to eke out a living among the barren high hills of a new and hostile continent. As far as the Afarensi are aware, they are the only tribe of their kind left in the world.

Believing it was only a matter of time before the Dragons followed them to finish what they started, the Afarensi built a fortress home that they could easily defend, and rebuilt their society as a stratocracy. All Afarensi were taught both physical and magical battle skills at a young age so they could go on to specialize as they got older, and military service never ended.

Their paranoia worked in their favor several hundred years later when the Dark Dragons indeed came for them again. Though they took heavy losses, the Afarensi were victorious at last.

Afarensi are smaller than humans, generally ranging between 4 and 5 feet tall. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet. Due to your military training and prehensile tail, you also have a climbing speed of 30 feet.

You can cast the fire bolt cantrip at will. Wisdom is your spellcasting modifier for this spell.

You are proficient with the scimitar, lance, and hand crossbow.
