Homebrew Woodland Squirrel Species Details

Woodland squirrels look much like squirrels of our world, just a little longer and tend to stand a little taller. They have small arms, strong legs and long bushy tails.

Squirrels are small when compared to most woodland creatures, but what they lack in physical presence they often make up for in energy. Their speed and agility is usually forefront in their demeanour, which may come off as passionate and adventurous -- or just annoying. Their grey, brown or orange faces are most regularly seen filled with a wide smile and bright, sparkling eyes.

Squirrels are a vibrant and cheerful people. They cherish the bonds of family and friendship as well as the comforts of community. Squirrels are a notoriously messy bunch, often being excited by the smallest things and collecting all manners of useless items as a result of their burning curiosity. They love discovering new things, even simple things, such as an exotic food or an unfamiliar style of clothing. They are generous, often to a fault, happily sharing what they have with anyone they meet.

As one of the oldest races to roam the forests, squirrels developed a strong connection with it; this connection only grew stronger and stronger throughout their ancestry. They can channel this magic every so often to heal those around them. Furthermore, the forest is important to their culture. They observe many holidays celebrating the spirits of the forest, and in traditional villages they build their homes high up amongst the trees connected with walkways and ladders, as they believe this brings them closer to the forest spirits.

Most squirrels tend towards the chaotic good corner of the alignments, usually polite and joyful. It's rare for a squirrel to be hostile or malicious unless they have just suffered a terrible injury, or have previously suffered something much worse...

Any time you move out of range of a creature, prompting an opportunity attack, you gain a +3 boost to your AC against it.
